I drove all the way holding the door (-13 c temp). Thank you so much, I fixed within 2 minutes. I was scared that I need to spend at least 300-400 dollars. You are awesome.

Thank you for putting this on youtube. We had no idea what to
do. 45 minutes trying to get the car door shut. Then I found you..
You just never know what people need. Just the most basic can get us into a pickle.

Solved our issue instantly!!! I was trying to help my mother figure it out for about 10 minutes in the cold, tried manually pushing that lever/lock backwards a bunch of times 😅 Ran back to the house and did a quick google search and boom. THANK

Super useful vid. Fixed my door at home in 10 seconds after having to drive home at night holding it shut with my hand. Was thinking I'd need to take it to a shop to get it fixed.

I have experienced the problem you describe, but recently in sub zero weather my door  ( '01 Taurus) just bounces back open until the heater warms the car interior up, I used a bungee cord to keep the door shut while driving. Is there a rod or cable inside the door panel that drags? If I forget and open the driver's side door from the inside, it seems the handle has less spring back pressure and leads me to believe that the problem is between the inside handle and the latch itself, the problem does not exist when it's warm. Good video guys.

Thank you so much for this! My car needed a little extra move however: I had to hold the handle open while SIMULTANEOUSLY having the key inserted in the door's lock and keeping it turned in the 'unlock' position. Only then did the latch go down, it would not go down previously. For the record. I have a Seat Cordoba 2004.

Hopefully this will help some folks out there. :)

Thanks so much! We had the door tied shut with a bungee cord but you saved the day!

did that. Latch won't engage in cold weather. What's the fix for that ? BTW I have had a 2008 HHR, 2006 Saturn vue & 2005 Saturn Ion all with the same problem. Is this a lubrication problem, or is it from the weatherstrip stiffening up? Is there an adjustment I can do?

Thank you so much. My 2001 blazer wouldn't shut as I'm out running errands. This fixed it perfectly!

Thank you, it worked perfectly & in seconds. My only other option would've been to pay a mechanic. Thanks again, truly appreciated
