As someone that drinks in moderation on the weekends I’m happy for everyone in the comments talking about how much being sober has improved their lives. Don’t fall for the goofy social pressures to feel like you have to drink to fit in. Do what makes you feel best

I did a 30 day alcohol free challenge and realized how much better I felt so two years later I will happily never drink again.

I quit drinking 3 weeks ago and it was easier then I thought it would be. Quit smoking cigarettes 2 years ago and quit vaping 6 months back. Most importantly I quit sugar and went keto last year and now ketovore lifestyle is how I live. I picked up dumbbells a few months back. I'm down 52 pounds and got 6 more to go before I can say my weight loss journey is over, now comes maintaining. I did this on my own, I'm determined. Thanks for reading!

Been an alcoholic for over 20 years. Im 2 years sober now. The hardest part is learning to forgive yourself of who you were and learning who you are or are growing to be. I regret all of it. Now i just concentrate on building my relationship with god and being a better man than I was yesterday. Thats not without saying the struggle is real and it seems to be with me just as my shadow is.

Please don’t lose hope if you’re stuck in the cycle of alcohol addiction. I’m over 3 years sober and thought it was hopeless. If I can quit anyone can. Stay strong. I encourage people to find alternatives when first quitting.

The last time I drank alcohol, I made myself so sick I couldn't function for 2 days. Been sober over 10 years now. Best thing I ever did

I’ve definitely had a drinking problem since I was a teenager. I’m 56 now. Ive quit drinking for one month. I feel great!!! I don’t even have a craving for a drink. Better late than never to quit.

I made a decision "not to do that when I grow up" when I was 8...🙄 I grew up around it and as one auntie said, "you can either learn from your mistakes kid or learn from other people's " I'm 63, never drank..😊

I am approaching 11 months with no alcohol and I feel the best and I am in the best shape I've probably ever been in my adult years. The mental clarity is unbelievable.

Sober since 9/13/2008. I was a terrible drunk, and alcoholic from a young age. My life has been completely transformed. My all over health has been completely transformed. Thank God for sobriety. Thank God for AA.❤

Watching Painkiller on Netflix and was wondering why a show isn’t made about the fact alcohol is even worse. The opioid epidemic is horrible, but the alcohol epidemic is pushed under the rug and causes even more deaths. I’m thankful to be 18 days AF and I’m going to keep going!

In 2006 I was admitted to hospital with acute alcoholic hepatitis. I was 31 and a chronic drinker. I was in alot of pain and my skin and eyes were bright yellow. The odds were against me but God willing I made it. This shit is legal and glamourised, it’s shocking. Today I’m so grateful that I got another chance that I won’t take it for granted. Love to all that have been through any alcohol issues and the families it destroys. 🙏🙏❤️❤️

I lost my dad to alcoholism. He ended up with alcohol induced dementia in the hospital, nearly died and then made a recovery and was starting to become himself again. Unfortunately, his alcoholic wife was encouraging him to drink again and before long he was back in the hospital and then died. Even after going through this, one of my sisters still chooses to drink quite a bit. Alcohol has been ruining lives and families for far too long!

Been an alcoholic for 10 years, I’ve cut down quite a bit from where I came, used to drink 750mls in a night, now I can make that last a week, still got a long ways to go, but Atleast now I feel more capable, and I have many nights and events where I can simply say no to drinking all together. Fighting back on those impulses always feels rewarding. When you really sit down, you have so many addictions in life, and when you realize and fight all of those addictions it can be so rewarding.

I have been alcohol and drug free for 10+ years. Very worth it. Social situations are awkward at events but it’s worth the challenges and worth the outcome of meeting other sober people who are interested in their overall well-being also
