My mother is an evolutionary biologist and is also a Roman Catholic. She became a Catholic when she realised how much evolution relies on structure. Suffice to say, evolution is not random. There are patterns: this is intelligence at work. She once said to me that we have to stop thinking about evolution from a HUMAN perspective. To a human, evolution occurs gradually, over millions and millions of years. But to God, that is a mere second, a fingersnap, and all this complexity emerges from His mind, His creativity, His intelligence. He, essentially, creates all humans in a single instance that to us, looks like a million years. Genesis is not meant to be a scientific account: it's more an allegorical account of a historical event.

God looked at all He created and said...'Well, that's a start...' No, He called it good. Anyway, we all have our opinions and what Father Spitzer and other scientists are presenting are their theories. None of us will really know til we die.

The physical body ages. The soul is all knowing connected with the physical body and is in touch with divots. Although the physical body ages. The soul is the same from birth. One can feel young even though the physical body is elderly etc ❤

God is metaphysical, or transendant, in nature and the source of all things such as the soul.

However, theistic evolution and the idea proposed here are at best contrary compromises of God's word as Genesis records.
