I've been adding dirt to a low spot for the last 4 years, it'll get there one day lol

Lots of people including myself never grew up with a Dad, or a father. I just wanted to thank you personally for helping out all the young men out there. Thank you. 😊

My dad died when I was 19, so I missed so many things I could've learned from him as an adult. Thanks for all of your wonderful info.

Great advice! I've bookmarked this as I eagerly await the day when I have enough free time to worry about filling a few uneven spots on my lawn.

What a great tip! I have some sand to get rid of, and low spots! Thank you very much!

Lol there’s a bit more too it than just that.. he filled a small low spot, I’ve had to bring in trailer loads of fill and triple mix (has phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium.. everything plants need to grow ) and tamp it down in layers with a water filled roller, then lay your seed and rake it into the dirt with a fan rake, unless you’re laying sod, then you take the dirt lightly to loosen the soil and give the grass roots something to grab on to (if you over compact nothing will grow) and lay your sod..
I e been a landscaper for 10 years so I’ve done quite a few seed/sod jobs lol

I make a mixture with starter fertilizer, grass seed and equal parts soil and sand (lots of clay here). I will load buckets in my truck for customers with dips and dead spots for a nice little addon to my general service on their property

Straight sand works too. Especially where the native soil is clay. And I don't get too fancy on the leveling. Water it and the sand levels itself. Good video, great advice. Keep it up.

Scarify the grass area with a grading rake prior to applying the contents of the wheelbarrow. This prep of the thatch layer will allow penetration of beneficial microbes to the turf’s root layer.
Just dumping substrate on the turf will level out the depression but will wash away in the subsequent rains….

Another trick, mix you grass seed into the top soil before you put it down.

Looks good thanks for sharing this tip.
I’ve seen masonry sand used on shorter style grasses to make it look like a golf course too
