One-in-twenty odds don't work like that.

The odds that you fail to find a shiny after 20 attempts is 35%, but just 80 more attempts will make the odds 0.57%.

1/20 doesn’t mean 1/20 literally, they’re odds not guarantees.

The 1 shiny per 20 thing is based off of experimental probability not theoretical probability, so it’s not a guarantee

Extra to the ditto myth you can use ditto and shedinja against the team leaders

The 1 in 20 odds are _not_ per 20 _total_ Pokemon.
Every _individual_ encounter has 1in 20 odds. That means you could catch 1000 and still not get one.
