8000Hz Polling Rate Explained in 60 Seconds

USB peripherals like mice and keyboards work by sending little packets of data hundreds or thousands of times per second to your computer. Those packets could contain what keys are pressed on your keyboard, or where your mouse has moved to. For most gaming peripherals those packets are sent 1000 times per second - or 1000 Hz. That’s been the standard for a long time, but new mice and keyboards from companies like Razer and Corsair have pumped those rookie numbers up to 4,000 or even 8,000Hz. For mice that means input lag is now just 0.125 to 0.25ms which is a big deal for gaming, and it means your mouse movements are tracked much more smoothly - instead of large jerky movement at 1000 Hz, your computer gets EIGHT times more updates, which makes tracking more accurate.

There's no way in hell an increased polling rate will make your mouse pointer move smoother. Even at a 360Hz refresh rate your monitor displays one frame every 2.8 ms, meaning that at 1000Hz you have two pointer positions reported for every frame that is drawn.

polling rate above 2k is nice to have but not noticable. Like ever. This is as a person that has an 8k hz mouse. It's nice to have the peace of mind that its doing things faster, but you can't see or feel a difference

why are you talking about that as if it would make a difference lol. Im 100% sure if YOU would use a 1000hz and an 8000hz mouse, and you dont know which is which, you would constantly get it right, apart from luck.
Its just marketing....good marketing, yes. But still

Even 1000hz poll rate drops fps even with a god tier PC.
