At least four law enforcement officers were killed in Charlotte, North Carolina while trying to serve a warrant. The fallen included a deputy U.S. marshal; two members of the North Carolina Department of Corrections, identified as Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott; and one member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Joshua Eyer.

1 killed criminal to 4 killed officer & 4 wounded those are some bad odds for law-enforcement

I guess they couldn't have grabbed this person at the gas pump, or somewhere OUTSIDE the home. Go figure...

Seems like a very poor approach plan for so many officers to be exposed like this😢

Don't understand why they weren't prepared for a felon with guns.

I don't know, but I have to wonder out loud about. How did one suspect shoot 8 officers killing 4?
Were they prepared for this guy to be violent? Some doesn't seem right here. Well, these guys really messed up and weren't taken this as seriously as they should have. I don't know this is not passing the sniff test for me

Maybe they need a different approach to these warrants.

So they were going to arrest him so they could then let him get it

Just another example of the deterioration of this country. It's to late now for recovery.

A lot of misinformation & assumptions in the comment section. I live about 2 mi. from the scene where this occurred in Charlotte. Everything started going down about 01:30 PM. 4 members of the US Marshall's local task force were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a fugitive felon in possession of a high-powered rifle. Apparently, the suspect came out the front door of the residence shooting. He shot & killed 3 of the task force officers, but was shot dead by one or more of them. The surviving member called for back-up, as someone inside the residence began shooting. When local police & other law enforcement officers began arriving, 4 local Charlotte officers were shot & wounded, & one subsequently died in the hospital. After a 3-hr. stand-off, the local SWAT team stormed the residence & apprehended 2 suspects inside. Every law enforcement officer knows that any such situation is risky, but it's their job, & they face the same risk any time they answer any kind of call. They are human, just like anyone else; sadly, they became the victims of violent criminals in this instance, as they were simply doing their job to get those criminals off the street.

Typical news report with a lot of yaking and platitudes to each other with very little basic facts.

When this story broke yesterday, I read that the 4 shot officers were going to be ok and that they were at home recovering! Then this morning I find out all 4 were killed. Something is really wrong with society these days. Mistakes and carelesnes across the board!

I lived in high point NC, not just a few miles from Charlotte NC. Wow. It used to be a nice place there. What a change. This is terrible news.

How many prior felony convictions did this guy have?

I'm not in law enforcement but it just seems like they would have had a better plan to catch this guy. Why not keep the house under surveillance and catch him when he was coming out rather than go knocking on the door to serve him. Four cops dead and 1 fugitive wasn't worth the risk.

The scared officers probably panicked and started spraying the neighborhood with bullets...hitting each other.
