The problem here is that Hughes was a habitual offender who was recently arrested on multiple drug charges and fleeing and eluding but released just a few hours later. That means the courts are responsible for these officers' deaths. These policemen went out time after time to get a dangerous killer off the streets, and finally the killer kills them. This was avoidable if the court system had only put Hughes UNDER the jail where he belonged earlier.

Why couldn’t they take this guy surprise in the open at a parking lot. Or while getting gas. I mean this was for a firearm violation not murder or kidnapping or bank robbery. Obviously the wrong strategy and underestimated the capabilities of the suspect and others in the residence. No element of surprise on the suspect. Definitely surprised the U.S. Marshalls. 😢
