“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” I love this statement ❤

“I am enough” is such a powerful statement; it makes me cry.

We need more of these videos. Not just for the financial and environmental health benefits, but for the mental health side awareness. I don’t think materialism makes people happy, in fact it does the opposite. We should encourage each other to find meaningful connections and experiences, we’ll be better off for it.

#4 is GOLD. Having a sense of *inherent Self Worth & Wholeness* is the root to avoid attempting to fill an internal void with external possessions. 😘 As always, great tips, Sophie. Much Gratitude. 🙏🏾💚

The Bible tells us that God gives us "More than Enough" "That we having Sufficiency in all things might be able to GIVE to Good Works". And when I receive so much I'm obligated to GIVE to others out of my Abundance! It's such a Joy to be able to GIVE. In fact, I now find more Joy in Giving than Receiving! My husband & I are in our 70s (married 56yrs) & after a Long Illness, I've been Inspired to completely Clear out everything that we don't enjoy using or have a need for! We have been giving some of our nicer things that we no longer use to newly married couples, either in the neighborhood or from our church! You can't imagine the Joy everyone shared with one another by this! The younger ones felt so Honored & Blessed bc we've had a Good & Long Marriage & by giving them something of ours the Blessing flows into them! How wonderful is that?
If we learn to have JOY in all we do, then what the World calls "Having Less" is really Having More!

Love this. I recently did some mystery shopping at a few different designer stores, including Hermes, Chanel and Dior. I noticed how some of the female customers were in all of the shops I went into, but one lady in particular caught my eye... I had seen her in Chanel first, and noticed how unhappy she looked as she searched for a new bag. Then later I saw her in Hermes, with a big Chanel gift bag with what I presumed was an expensive Chanel bag inside, and my first thought was, "Money doesn't buy happiness, she doesn't look any happier than before". It was eye-opening to say the least.

Another thing to keep note is as long as u are improving/investing in yourself, you don't need materials to validate that. You are the brand, a unique one in the whole world.❤

Anytime I feel myself start to want to shop constantly or start window shopping online often I come back to your videos.
I don't have anyone in my life that practices minimalism so it's nice to come here and be re-grounded and remember why I've been on this journey

Sophie is an intelligent consumer!! She is teaching us to be selective and respect quality over quantity. She is teaching us to be creative and progressive!
Her advice is like the one my father gave me when I was a typical, uninformed, teenager 🤗
I confess I overspend on books but I carefully select my collection of books. Ensuring variety and quality.
My father would deeply appreciate her sensitive and sensible suggestions. 😍😍😍

One way I control things is that I have AdBlock on all my devices and I use a privacy browser and search engine (Brave). This eliminates 99% of ads. I do see ads on Facebook and Instagram and I am working on finding a way to eliminate them too. Because I was the firstborn of a large family on a budget, I have shopped second hand my entire life and I prefer it. It's the thrill of the hunt and the delight of a 'find'!

What a beautiful and powerful message 'I am enough and I don't need that particular thing to be whole or valued.' ❤❤

Todd McGowan really gets at a core in his work, I think: "Desire always finds its satisfaction through missing its object. The basic structure of desire is it never realizes itself in an object and that‘s the source of its satisfaction. Capitalism maps itself on that structure of desire but it gives us the illusion that we may sometime be able to get the object of our desire, but in truth our desire is satisfied by not getting that object."

Fundamentally, desire ceases to be once we obtain an object, but because the pleasure is in the desire, it immediately fixates on the next object. The things is to accept the presence of this mechanism without fruitlessly feeding it objects, as you point out.

For many years I struggled with the temptation of shopping. One day I had an epiphany that I really don't need anything material. In fact I had entirely too much stuff. That revelation allowed me to let go of so much that could be a blessing to others. By doing this I learned that I am enough just as I am. Recently, I have been listening to some affirmations on gratitude to reduce that pressure to consume. Today I woke up and started thinking about doing a low spend challenge for the remainder of the year and then the universe showed me your video. ❤
