I agree that art style matters, as good art really does attract people’s eyes to the webtoon, I speak from experience of looking at webtoons because of the art

Honestly as a reader, I like seeing different artstyles in webtoons, I don't really care about beautifully drawn characters, if the plot is good I'm hooked, also when the art is too pretty like the characters they seem to look too similar to me

The comic sans hate is really sad sometimes. As a heavily dyslexic person, it's the most easiest font to read, hence why I prefer it over others. And yet, it always has to be locked away becomes folks hate it too much. It literally looks like my handwriting 💀

another point i'd like to make about art style is that its definitely a preference thing, there's this manga i read (im not gonna name it cuz its nsfw) where the reviews praise it for wonderful & moving storytelling but i cant seem to read past volume 1 cuz the art style threw me off... so, yes, art style does matter

Are all the fonts you suggested free for commercial use? Do you think it's worth spending on a font license to get a font that's more aesthetically pleasing than the free ones (like the fonts used by lezhin, tappytoon etc)?

Also, I'd like to know how you made the title page of your webtoon ("Woes of a Male Lead" has such a fancy feel!)

I'd rather use Comic Sans than a font that is all caps like most comics use.

I really wish to be a webtoon artist just to use Comic Sans and prove that most people just dgaf

isnt comic sans are the standart in the industry XDD its like the best looking font there.. i wish they had rosmary font like on the phones but sans looks neat and the best, it has nothing to do with being a begginer

It really does matter. many I could not even read because the art was so bad it bothered me. Also if it looks bad from the thumbnail I can’t even click it. It’s not gotta be perfect but look better than a toddler made it and sadly many look like they’re done by children. I seen one with stick figures and I get they want their own webcomics and it’s adorable but I can’t make myself read it. Lol
