What a test. Shane Warne’s 700th and Roy’s century. Two legends we’ve lost in 2022

Check out Haydens record that comes up onscreen at the start. At that point 88 tests, 7530 runs at 52.29. As an opener. WOW. Magnificent.
Hussey was something like a 65 avge until 30 odd tests. Ponting near 60 till 100 tests coming in at number 3. Martyn 50 avge Langer near 50, etc etc etc.
Was a heck of a team to choose from around this period.

In the next 24 innings, Andrew Symonds scored 1148 runs at an average of 47.8 runs per innings.

what monsters they were, look at their height, physic and the right left hand combination. People fear the mighty tall bowlers from the west indies or Australia but batsmen like this are very rare..

Hayden, Gilly, Ponting, Martyn, Symonds, Bevan along with McGrath and Lee. 90's Indian kids used to hate them 😂 The most complete team ever. ✔

We’ve been so lucky in Australia to have so many phenomenal cricketers. The team from 1995-2007 was truly a golden era, and the teams we’ve had even in the last few years have been truly brilliant at times

Re-watched this after Roy's death last night. Hayden and Symonds put on a party on December 27 2006. 150 in two sessions for Roy, 4 at lunch, 154 at stumps. Man of the Match performance but for Shane Warne taking a five-for in the first innings including his 700th wicket.

This was Haydos's revival, and he was unstoppable for the next 2 years after this - which included his ODI comeback, World Cup and World T20 of 2007.

So good to hear Richie. Tony and Bill.
When these two hit the ball you can almost hear it screaming in pain

I frankly don't know how much respect Hayden has among Aussie fans...but for the people of Chennai he is a legend...we can't forget his contributions to CSK 🦁🦁🦁

Growing up as a kid in the late 90's and early 00's and watching this team repeatedly destroy all opposition was just the best.

This is one of my all time favourite partnerships. Such a joy to watch, especially given the pressure Roy was under as well.

5 wickets down and Symmo comes out to bat
Pretty demoralizing for the opposition

RIP Roy. 6 months later it still feels awful.
Video starts showing Hayden's stats. 88 tests, 7500 runs at 52.3....against the new ball and far superior attacks to those today, on all manner of wickets all over the world. Stunning.
This may have felt like the highlight of both their careers.
