This really was the most unbelievable knock of those times. He almost clinched the match for the Kiwis. He had another special T20 knock against the Aussies later that year. He and Andy Blignaut could hit sixes at will!

I was 12 at the time watching it live at a mates place. Even as an Aussie, I was actually cheering Oram on cause of his immense power and stroke play was incredible! His determination was fierce, he & Mccullum got his country so damn close but what an effort & performance!

there are very few natural allrounders. eithers they're batsman who can bowl or bowler who can bat but very few natural allrounders...flintoff, oram, Klusener, kallis, razzaq, bravo are some of them and were such a treat to watch

I remember watching this highlights a few years ago on star sports (my God what a channel that was ! I don't think it is streamed any more in India). I was too small to watch the match when it was actually played. And from that day, I had always longed to find this match somewhere, until finally CA uploaded it here.
What an experience that was ! New Zealand cornered, then counter attacking, and then falling just short of the target. I felt so sad for them, I was a small kid back then.
And we need to remember that there weren't two balls in an innings back then. Hitting at the death was twice as difficult due to the softer ball. Plus there was reverse swing with the older ball. That all makes the innings twice as special
