Not only time consuming, but make a weaker corner due to cutting the 45deg corner out of the vertical. (Which should have gone all the way to the floor)

That’s great, but the first way around was just fine. Also, have such small surface area on the wood after you cut doesn’t ruin the purpose? I’m just wondering for my own knowledge if anyone care to reply.
