Another option is that Strange was able to see actually see these branching timelines, ones where the TVA would step in and erase, so the 1 time where they win wasn't just saying that's how they beat Thanos, it was saying that's how they beat Thanos while also remaining on the Sacred Timeline, without alerting the TVA to erase them.

The TVA is located in a realm outside of the sacred timeline, in which the infinity stones need to be in to function. Since they’re outside, that’s why they don’t work. It’s like trying to use your wireless controller to your console at the store 50 miles away from your house. Nothing is actually wrong with the stones. If Loki took those stones, escaped, and returned to his dimension, they’d work once more and he could plug them into a gauntlet and rule everything. Hence why the avengers were able to snatch stones and use them elsewhere.

Asssume that a time line is a cable, one huge cable and as you open it you’d see thousands of smaller cable bundles that make up the larger cable. All cables work within the huge cable, millions of possibilities in how they work with and mostly unaware of the other the packages until disrupted. There are thousands of allowed disruptions but some that threaten the larger whole cable.

They're not useless, they're still as valuable and powerful as they were, its just that they can't be used within the tva as it doesn't exist within time and space. It is positioned outside time and space meaning that the stones can't connect to the cosmic energy that powers them.

I think the answer is a lot simpler than we are making it out to be. Mobius isn't saying that there is only one possible outcome, he is saying that the Timekeepers work to preserve a specific outcome because it is in their best interest. Strange is not privy to the designs of the Timekeepers, he does not know which outcome is favored by them, and there are many of them. The very fact that the Timekeepers have to interfere with Variants demonstrates that there are many different timelines, but only one that the Timekeepers seek to preserve.

My interpretation of why Strange saw millions of possible futures is because the sacred timeline isn't anything special by nature, but its the way things are "supposed to happen" because that's the timeline that the Time Keepers and TVA chose to enforce. Events that aren't in line with the sacred timeline, like 2012 Loki's escape, are absolutely possibilities, it's just that the TVA destroys those possible timelines when they come to exist. Strange would still be able to see them happen and possibly even the TVA pruning them.

What confuses me is how Ultron uses the infinity stones outside of reality itself, where the watcher watches the multiverse. it's very confusing now. Almost seems to contradict itself.

Dr. Strange used the Time Stone to move himself through time, physically. He did it to save the Hong Kong Sanctum. He did it when he came back from bargaining with Dormammu. He was behind Kaecilius immediately after he left to bargain with Dormammu. His rapidly shifting position in Infinity War is his coming back to his location, resetting and going into the future again. So, the Time Stone allows the bearer to move through time, physically, not just their mind.

The Dr. Strange thing, I just figured that the Time stone allowed him to see 14 million possible branches. He just doesn't know there is a "sacred timeline", so as far as he knows, each one could be the future that's going to happen, he doesn't know that one of them is the pre-determined one.
