Loki is straight up having an existential crisis here. He thought he was a god, he thought the infinity stones were the most powerful objects in existence but to the time keepers he's completely powerless and stones are meaningless.

This scene shows Loki with an emotion he's never expressed before: humility.

Sure, he's been distraught over his mother, terrified of Hulk, defiant to Thanos, and even caught off guard by Black Widow. He's been "surprised." But he's never been really, truly humbled.

The look of realization on his face is basically him going "Oh my dad... I ain't shit."

He's been more and more humanized over the years but is such a great scene because it brings him to down to a truly human level.

Really great scene, turning comedy into an immediate emotional, almost respectful shock. Well written and well acted.

People actually complained about this scene and those are the ones that only watch the mcu. This is pretty comic book accurate the tva exists in a dimension called the null dimension which is outside of our known space and time and therefore outside our known main universe. And in the comics the stones only work inside their home universe so it’s perfectly fine that they are treated like nothing more than paper weights here because in the tva that’s about as useful as they are. Also it shows Loki just how much he doesn’t know and how small his aspirations and himself are compared to the universe.

This hits so hard because the Infinity Stones have been the catalyst for the entire Infinity Saga.

Thanos basically murdered half the living universe just to get these things. heck he even threw his own daughter off a cliff for the Soul Stone. Same with Hawkeye losing Black Widow, and Wanda killing Vision for the Mind Stone. Even the Masters of the Mystic Arts' oath to protect the Time Stone don't matter.

These space rocks had started wars, taken lives and destroyed everything within its wake with just a single snap of a finger.

All that just to see it in desk jockey's push cart. Using these things as useless office props like it don't mean shit.

Just shows that The Avengers, their villains and the choices they made along the way were nothing more than small, insignificant pebbles in the wide multiverse.

Just by watching this scene really kinda opens you up to how powerful the time keepers are. The fact that the infinity stones don’t even bother the tva is just wow factoring. It makes you think about if the stones are the most powerful artifacts in the universe. Loki was saying what we were all thinking, time is omnipotent.
