I know Hallow is super popular for Divine Intervention, but I really think Prayer of Healing is a solid choice that DM’s might not Ban. A mid combat short rest is kind of incredible. Warlocks, Monks, Fighters, etc get all those resources back. As well as rolling hit dice to heal. Kinda sick!

I think Trickery Domain: Healing Illusion works as a small Phoenix Revive. Because you can lose the illusion when you are incapacitated that means you use it for advantage like normal, but under the rare instance that you are downed near it the illusion will automatically bring you to 17-20HP. Not amazing, but may have been overlooked.

War domain might be one of the rare instances where picking human just vastly exceeds any other species picks because getting shield, true strike, booming blade (if allowed, since that will result in shutting down enemy movement to enable spirit guardians even more), shillelagh, thorn whip (for more synergy with spirit guardians), and even something like entangle or absorb elements via both the magic initiates is pretty incredible utility for a war cleric focused on spirit guardians

Human War Domain Clerics who take both Magic Initiate Druid and Magic Initiate Wizard can take Shillelagh and True Strike to do some decent damage for a single attack enhanced with Blessed Strike. Your bonus action swing is upped by the improved base damage of Shillelagh as well. (At 7th level you are averaging 17.5 main hand and 10.5 bonus action while concentrating on Spirit Guardians)

I just realized something. Maybe Conjure Minor Elementals got its crazy upscaling when someone over at Wizards working on the spell accidentally got mixed up with the Cure Wounds text. If you're working on a giant document alphabetically, they're really close to each other.

I think Sage is going to be a popular cleric background - you can boost WIS and CON, and the magic initiate Wizard gives you access to True Strike, or a selection of other Wizard spells that can help you out, like Shield.

When you compare this capstone, that is basically a wish per 5 days, to the hunter’s mark 2dmg increase, you really really know someone hates rangers at WotC..

12:06 - I just want to say thank you. I know this timestamp was only for a small aside comment, but it is clear (from both the aside and all these videos) that you very much care about us all getting this information on the new PHB in the most digestable and comprehendable way.

I think invoke duplicity would be the point of area for spiirit guardians. It says you can cast spells as though you were in illusions space. It’s doesn’t specifically exclude area spells.

Playing with life-berries I cam to realize that the lack of out of combat healing at least at my tables is a huge part of the martial caster divide. Casters never run out of spells before the rogue, fighter and monk are out of hit dice and hit points so you long rest. Chris has said several times in reply to the resourceless argument for martials hit points are a resource. Story was well served too guys we need to hurry "um I'm less than half health and don't have any hit dice" ok we'll get right on it in 10hours. Of course Barb no helping you.

I feel like casting spirit guardians around the duplicity illusion still works, RAW, despite your explanation. The feature says you cast the spell as though “you were in the illusion’s space.” So if I was in that space, that is where it would appear.

When people first saw the change to emanation style spells, they figured the intent was preventing multiple applications of the damage through forced movement. Now you can apply the damage using your own movement and from your party members

I think I'm just going to rule that Divine Intervention doesn't affect casting time. There are other revives than raise dead if you need that quick, snappy result (Revivify for example), but also plenty of spells that are exploitable if they can be cast as a single action.

Imagine players putting up a Leomund's Tiny Hut mid-combat, for example.

The backwards compatibility worked out well for my knowledge cleric. The everything is a half feat has been pretty good

I know War domain's changes really lend to it's value as a multi-class for fighter and barbarian. if you're under the assumption that your campaign isn't going to 20, or you're playing a one-shot, 3 levels of war domain goes a long way in power for weapon users with it's improved channeled divinity. and a fighter who can put up spiritual guardians then action surge to attack/grab/shove while having various options for their BA like war priest along with their second wind is just loaded.

I've always seen war domain as the premiere multi-class cleric honestly.

Someone (I think it was LudicSavant?) pointed out Divine Intervention is even more busted if your DM lets you use it during downtime. Can spend a few weeks rendering huge areas Hallowed, stuff like that. Arguably raises worldbuilding questions.

So one other powerful option for Divine Intervention is you can use it to cast Glyph of Warding, with no material cost and then put a spell into it as a single action, and as long as you make the trigger something that happens immediately you can gain a concentration free version of a concentration spell, at the cost of your daily intervention and a spell slot of 5th or lower if your table let's you use divine intervention to upcast the glyph to 5, otherwise 3rd or lower. Not as powerful as hallow but still a fun option I don't think too many clerics would mind having a concentration free version of spirit guardians up. If allowed to be upcast there's some other cool options too.

53:55 Just my 2 cents, but the wording on the War Domain's 6th level feature interacts very nicely with the new spellcasting rules!
Since both spells are cast using Channel Divinity INSTEAD of using a spell slot, that means either bonus action spell can be cast on the same turn as a leveled action spell.
So (in that specific case) the new War Domain's Spiritual Weapon is a BETTER version of the old spell since it's concentration-free AND can be cast on the same turn as Spirit Guardians.

Definitely not my go-to combo, but very cool to have in the back pocket!
I'd probably use the double-spell combo for Shield of Faith instead, to bump my AC on the same turn I cast an important concentration spell...

24:40 In the video J-Craw gave the same reason you gave. It was too much for you to do for it to not be concentration. He said it's not because it's too powerful. That's what Todd said.

I'm seeing conversation about the interpretation of Dicine Intervention meaning "you *cast* the spell without spell slot of components as part of the Divine Intervention" doesn't change the spells casting time. It just begins the process.
