A teacher is ANYONE who makes learning a new subject INTERESTING.
That requires the teacher to have a pleasant personality, clear soft voice, knowledge about the subject....and sympathy towards the students who need guidance.

A teacher who tries to encourage their students to think from different perspectives and not push an agenda is the best in my opinion. I had a foreign teacher in my college who said that American students are delinquents. I explained to him that most Americans don't care about having the highest test scores in the world. We care about freedom of choice. The ability to choose our own education whether it is public schooling, homeschooling, private schools, religious schools etc. A student in Alaska shouldn't be learning the same things as a student in New York City. They have different cultures and lives and states have the right to choose what their education is like. A student in the Mid West for example will benefit from classes on agriculture while students in New York City wouldn't. That teacher was shocked and couldn't believe that I didn't care that other countries have higher test scores. I told him I would rather have lower test scores but not everyone believe the same thing and have the freedom of choice when it comes to their education.

I still remember my maths teacher, Aaisha ma'am, in grade 10. She is extremely good at her maths skills and can make anyone understand maths concepts easily. She'll always wear cotton sarees and never miss the side rose for her long braided hair. One noteworthy thing about the way she distributes our answer sheets is that she always arranges them in ascending sequence of marks. Until we receive our paper, it will be an exciting wait. Since everyone wanted their paper to be the last to turn in, this strategy encouraged every student to try to achieve higher grades. Additionally, only students who are almost at their maximum score will receive affectionate palm beatings. I'll receive four beatings for the missing marks if I receive 96 out of 100. It truly amazes me how a teacher could manage this for every class of pupils on a regular basis. She was an engaging and motivating teacher because of her personality, knowledge, and patience. She is the reason I enjoy maths so much.
