In tonight’s top story: Canada Day celebrations took place across the nation in a particularly unique manner. David Akin reports on the dozens of permanent residents who swore an oath and became Canadian citizens at a national event in Ottawa, making the day even more special for some.

Canada Day, however, is reflected upon in a different manner by many Chinese-Canadians and Chinese immigrants. The exclusion act, a controversial law implemented in 1923 halted Chinese immigration to Canada. Marking 100 years since it became law, a museum in Vancouver has opened to educate the often-overlooked legislation. Mike Drolet reports.

Also, a strike is now underway for more than 7,000 port workers in B.C., halting a large portion of trade and shipping in Canada and putting the supply chain at risk. Travis Prasad has the latest.

And, there’s a new law in South Korea that changes how millions of peoples’ ages are counted, making citizens unexpectedly younger overnight. Mike Armstrong explains.

It’s a good thing to celebrate all people, but sadly those that actually built this country with blood, sweat, and tears have been pushed aside.

What a disrespectful government and Prime Minister to use Canada Day to add
a new tax for it's citizens to worry about paying.

Our past makes who we are today. It should not be repeated, nor should it be erased.

Canadians can't find decent rents. Landlords have up the rents for immigrants because our government pays their rent . Rents have doubled in places.

To newcomers:
Ask not what Canada can do for you; just ask what you can do for Canada.

Canada over the last 7 years or so, is no longer the country I used to know and love. That country has been completely torn down and destroyed.

I love that we can welcome new Canadians and in the same sentiment feel that Canada housing cannot afford to accept these people. We need to slow down immigration in my opinion.

Canadians should have used this day to protest and shame Trudeau for what he’s done to the country and the people!

Pretty soon Canada day will be celebrated by singing "God save the Drag Queen".

Why do BRICS citizens now suddenly vastly outnumber Canadians in overcrowded Canadian cities?

There was a liberal booth at our local canada day but they packed up early because everybody was hating on them. The event organizer said that they wont be accepted into the celebration next year.

Trudeau carbon tax is now active for july 1st. Gas will now be more expensive driving inflation up, driving interest up, mortgage and rent up. Thanks Trudeau
