In tonight's top story: The town of Osoyoos, B.C., is on edge after the Eagle Bluff wildfire, first discovered in Oroville, Wash., crossed into Canada, prompting evacuation orders. Heather Yourex-West speaks with residents about the tense experience and what could cause the wildfire to flare up again.

The International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU) and the BC Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) have reached another tentative deal, marking the third attempt to end the province's port strike. Mackenzie Gray looks back at how the labour dispute reached this point, when workers will vote on the agreement and what could happen if it doesn't pass.

Many struggling Canadian business owners took out loans from the federal government under the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) program to avoid going under during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Touria Izri reports, the deadline for those repayments is looming and a growing number of businesses are begging for an extension.

West African nations are demanding Mohamed Bazoum be reinstated as Niger's president, after a military junta seized power from the country's democratically-elected government. Crystal Goomansingh reports on the ultimatum given to the coup leaders and the potential repercussions of sanctions being imposed on Niger.

Plus, labour unrest has been making headlines lately, from B.C. port workers, to Toronto grocery workers, to actors and writers across North America. Anne Gaviola explains what's fuelling the work disputes and why economists are warning even more people could walk off the job soon.

And, Canada's run at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup has come to a disappointing end after a lopsided loss to Australia. Eric Sorensen reports on the defeat, the potential fate of Captain Christine Sinclair and where this could leave the team.

Maybe bars aren’t making money because no one can afford 10 dollar pints so less people bother going out

I’d say the offer for the port workers is pretty good. Most of us worked all our lives on not even a third of these wages.

My husband and I have spent vacation time in Osoyoos. It would be terrible if the fires move into the area. The wine country there would be decimated. That whole area is so beautiful and peaceful, it would be a shame if the fires take over.

Every year it’s the same sub story, “Ho my God our forest is burning”, “it’s the climate”, !!! I Have been here for only 32 years it’s the same narrative sometimes a little more bull, sometimes a little less. Ho we do sow rain, because that’s good for our environment …
To me the words, prevention, preservation, management comes to my mind much faster than climate bull”””t
Good has become bad, and bad has become good
May our Lord God have mercy on humanity

Seems every two years is a record year for forest fires, check the Records of B.C. Wildfire service. The disturbing news, most are human caused, so don’t blame it all on the weather. Go visit the stats, and look at the last two columns.

Too bad for those who left Osoyoos due to the fires. Everything is pretty much normal here and the smoke is blowing away from town. Was a beautiful day here.

I get that global needs to sell ad space but why won't you do a piece on food manufacturers price increases and skrinkflation? Of course grocery stores have record sales revenues groceries have never been this expensive. But why the constant targeting of the retailer and not the manufacturer? That's like blaming the Ford dealership for selling a car at MSRP after Ford raised their MSRP for the dealer by 30%. If the dealer has to pay 30% more for a Ford focus and sells it for 30% more to the customer their sales revenue will be 30% higher than the year before but their Profit margins haven't increased 30%.
We can't fix the problem if no one goes after the food manufacturers for price gouging. Report the Real story, the Real problem!
