AM5 has more support long term. That's one main reason to go that route besides the superior, more efficient architecture. After RL, you'll need to upgrade the mainboard and possibly other components yet again - it's the Intel way.

My upgrade cycle for tech has been 7 years i.e., previously I have upgraded my computing hardware 2 times in past 14 years. So for me this is coming at a good time as AM4 future proofs with Gen5 RAM, storage and GPU eventually. So worth it.

That fart on-stream did not disappoint either.

18:15 I think you meant to say 300 gram loss, and not 300kilogram loss. 300kilograms is 661 pounds

18:25 so the ps5 is now -295.8kg... (i think you meant to say 300g and not kg lol)

So, I've been saving up for a framework laptop for the past year, but the gpu prices and now the new AMD hardware... it's so tempting.

I'd more interested if AMD could add USB 4 to all their motherboard so Intel would do so with their TB4....

04:03 There's nothing new about using a geometric mean to average out performance differences like that. It's the standard way to do it, and they did the same thing with Zen 3, including providing the chart with all the applications they used.

Don't know if they made a chart for Zen 2 as well, but they certainly used a geometric mean to arrive at the 15% IPC uplift figure.

It’s a teaser… not a trailer on RDNA 3. Why is that so difficult to comprehend? Standard marketing practices. If they didn’t mention it, people would complain about that too.

When you say its going to be a very competitive season between Intel and AMD, I agree totally. Since I am going for a complete rebuild, this time around, the idea of a new Mobo, CPU, Ram and even version 3.0 of PSU's is not any real consequence. I will go all AMD this Gen and like it.

I will say, that even that i like the high end CPU from this gen they showed us, I agree that 7600x is gonna be hard to change, but, ur comment on all u gotta change to get that 7600x but Intel has done it year after year. So no harm on AMD doing it once every 5 years

I love AMD and this new launch being honest, excites me. However, taking into account all needed to upgrade into this new GEN, I'm out this time. Only things I could save from my current build are PSU and GPU. Nah, I can still rock the house with my 5800X and my 3070Ti for years to come.

Your Zen 3 didn't became slow over night. You can play games just fine. Like yesterday.

Well, Alder/Raptorlake Motherboards are EOL even Z790 when they launch, while in AM5 the Zen 5 will fit and Zen 6 most probably and if AM5 last as long as AM4 even Zen 7 . Thats something worth mentioning, even if AM5 MoBos are 100 or 200 $ more expensive in comparison, you will have an upgrade path . Not only that future AMD CPUs will fit in, AM5 supports up to five NVME SSDs, three of them PCIe 5.0, the PCIe Slots will have PCIe 5.0 ( X670e, B650e ) = your PC has room to grow while Z690/Z790 will only support one DDR5 SSD and thats it, everything else is 4.0.
