AMD is in TROUBLE – Ryzen 7000 Full Review - Ryzen 7600X, Ryzen 7700X, Ryzen 7900X, Ryzen 7950X

At long last, AMD has launched their new Zen 4 CPUs, Ryzen 7950X, 7900X, 7700X, and 7600X, and they look great. Alongside the enhancements of socket AM5, these new chips look like they give Intel a run for their money... or do they? AMD has a bit of an issue of not being better than their best gaming chip, or better value than Intel's platform which makes some of these chips hard to recommend. And with Intel's Raptor Lake looming on the horizon, AMD's future might not look so bright anymore.

Corrections:
1. 2:06 Our Ryzen 7000 and Intel 12th Gen test benches were equipped with 6000MHz CL36 RAM, as per AMD's recommendation.
2. 11:09 The x-axis label should read "CPU Package Power (W) - Lower is Better"

Having your previous gen "niche" part outperform most of your new gen parts goes to show how insane 3D V-Cache is. Now if they were to debut it on Zen4 as a 7800x3D...

Honestly having integrated graphics saved my butt when my dedicated gpu died on me suddenly and it was next to impossible to source a new one during the shortage. Sure quality and frames took a huge hit but it was still usable (and playable) to the point that by the time I received a new card over a year later I had gotten used to it lol.

6:16 I would say that a 40% lead going from the 5700X to the 7700X is mighty impressive.

More than anything this highlights just how *insane* the 5800X3D is. I can't wait for the 3D 7000 chips.

In your benchmarks I think I can speak for a lot of people using older parts like my Ryzen 9 3900XT that we'd like to see the difference between these older parts and the brand new ones. Not just a comparison between the brand new one and the one that came out right before. It's a pretty small portion of your audience that has the newest one that's out and looking to upgrade to the next one immediately.

Whatever the case, I'm just glad that AMD and Intel are finally very competitive (In the desktop/laptop market). It was rather annoying during the 2010's when AMD had no competitor to Intel's top chips. The huge gain in single core performance has convinced me to upgrade my 3900x to a 7900x.

Although, Intel is still not competitive enough with AMD's EPYC server CPU's, and barely competitive with Thread Ripper. In that segment, you're better off going AMD.

Well, Linus convinced me that my purchase of 5800x3D was a good choice, well done Linus!

As others have said the new variety of productivity benchmarks is great but as a mechanical engineering student, it would be nice to see benchmarks for CADing softwares too. I'm sure it would be useful for ltt engineers as well. :)

The thing that sells it for me are the minimums. They kill in averages, but the actual experience improvement is unreal.

El track en español me recuerda a los caps viejos en discovery o en history channel. y hace que extrañe el tono de voz de Linus.

The only reason i have gone with Zen4 is, my last PC was AM3 so i needed to buy a whole new setup.
It made sense for me to get the latest Zen4 because i can afford it, and those 3D versions on this gen excite me alot.

I was literally already thinking about waiting for the 3D-version of the 7000 series to build my pc from scratch before this video. This only further confirms it. I'm expecting 7000-3D to be an absolute BEAST

I think this is just a simple case of early adopters paying the price. As more affordable motherboards come out, more DDR5 RAM is available, and sales start happening, it will all make more sense from a financial standpoint. There's no doubt the performance is impressive. Now give us the Zen 4 3D chips!

I just want to say, I saw your recent video about how you have 80 people working at LTT now, and having watched since there were was like 10-14 of you? I’m so damn happy and proud of my fellow Canadian techies! But also, it shows! The writing and production quality of your videos is so so high! I loved the red background with the blue banana and the ‘redblueredblue’ going across the screen! So many little details that just make this (and all your videos) look SO professional! Good job team!

I was about to feel dumb for recently getting a 5800X3D, but hot damn these benchmarks are really validating my poor foresight.

AMD has already stated that there will be 3D cache versions of Zen 4. I'm guessing they'll be released after Intel 13000 series drops. It will allow AMD to see significant increases without having to change anything else and still compete with the new Intel chips.
