The Lexus LFA Was Not A Failure (Even Though It Was) — Revelations with Jason Cammisa

F is for Failure, and the Lexus LFA wasn't a marketplace success. However, it created Gazoo Racing, which today gives us the GR Corolla, GR Yaris, GR Supra, and GR86. So the LFA paid dividends where it matters most: to regular enthusiasts.

The Lexus LFA was a hard sale: it was more expensive than its Ferrari and Lamborghini counterparts. Didn't matter that it had the best-sounding V-10 in history. Didn't matter that the Nürburgring Package variant set the production car lap record at the Norschleife. Didn't matter that it was innovative, rare, and beautiful. Didn't matter that it was a carbon-fiber chassis supercar that actually went racing.

Lexus' F Performance Brand just hadn't earned the right to command those kinds of prices.

Learn the full history behind the Lexus Flagship that changed our world for the better.

Think of it this way. The LFA _skipped_ financial success and landed straight into legendary status— a 200+ mph grand touring cruiser that revs to 9500 RPM, producing the most sonorous and seductive intake growl and exhaust note known to mankind? How could that not be in the stuff of legend?

"It's not the most powerful car in the world. It's not the fastest, not the best looking, and it is certainly not the cheapest but... It might very well be the best car I have ever driven." - Jeremy Clarkson

Dear Hagerty: please give Jason an unlimited budget and massive production team and stay the hell out of his way.

I live about 5 minutes from the yellow LFA and can confirm it’s been in the Lexus Of Brighton ( Melbourne, Australia) dealership showroom since new. It has never been sold to a customer. It is a stunning piece of art.

Akio Toyoda pushing for the LFA and then racing it HIMSELF is what happens when a company chairman goes god-mode!

Yamaha sound engineer is very proud of this one.

In a way the LFA is the Japanese Veyron.
Overly Expensive, Overly Complicated and only made because the dude running the company wanted to prove how good they can be.

I wrote an essay about the LFA my senior year of high school. I remember being obsessed with it and consuming every single piece of content about it I could find. It truly is a one of a kind car that I hope I get to own or at least drive someday. Also I got an A+ on that essay

I love that every video ends with a pure, unedited driving section.

Through headphones, it is a beautiful sounding car. I can only imagine what it sounds like in real life.

“the LFA is so good, that not even the people who made it, know how make it again”

This video has the longest outro car shot which is probably a testament to how much Cammisa is in fond of this car.

I have no idea who this Camissa bloke is nor what a Hagerty is. But I've watched every single revelations episode of this Adam Sandler lookalike and it's some of the best content on this platform, that otherwise aims to completely destroy my attention span. Thank you, amazing funny car guy

Jason is doing a better and better job of not spoiling future Revelations episodes on the Carmugeon show

The styling of the LFA holds up remarkably well.

Actually saw an LFA on the road the other day, could hardly believe it. Thankfully i got to pull up beside it and have a quick chat before he took off and my god it really is the greatest sounding car ever made.

If you, like me, watched the National Geographic documentary of the Lexus LFA, you know how much effort Hagerty and Jason have done here to get this amazing infotainement video to us for I cannot believe this is free, at all. Great Job Jason, Great job Hagerty! Keep it coming
The LFA V10 is arguably the most under-appreciated engine of all time, hell the whole car might be, since they were losing money on each LFA sold

The LFA is one of my favorite cars of all time, and if I ever hit the Powerball, there would be one sitting in my garage.

Gear up in your best pair of headphones, folks. Jason's about to talk about the best sounding car ever made

They gave the engineers of the Lexus LFA nearly 10 years and a billion dollars to spend on creating a masterpiece car. Which other manufacturer would throw money at a car like that? If you ask me, the LFA was never supposed to make money, why would they be bothered? They are sitting on billions of dollars anyways. It was more of a statement to show the world they could compete with the rest of the industry and even outdo them at the time. It raised the brands image to prestige status and the car even managed to set the world record at the Nürburgring.

There's a book out there called "The Roar of an Angel" written by the designer of the car himself. Seriously, go get it because a lot of people do not know what they are talking about.
