Kentucky Sheriff Accused of Killing Judge in Courthouse

A shooting inside a rural Kentucky courthouse left one judge dead and a local sheriff arrested for the murder. The motive is still unclear but early reports say District Judge Kevin Mullins and Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines had an argument just before the shooting.

Everyone wants to know what the motive was.
It wasn't about the sheriff's deputy getting fired, it was a lot more personal than just that.

I doubt the motive is unknown at this time. It’s a question of how the county is going to cover their a$$ when the whole story comes out.

Yikes! There is definitely something really bad that the sheriff was willing to get locked up for life over. There is only one thing i can think of that would put a man over the edge so far he did not care if he got locked up. It usually involves a child. I don't care what costume or dress you wear to work. If your messing with children some men will give their lives to protect them no matter what the consequences.

Less than an hour after this story broke when it first happened people from that town were already commenting on the motive. What we are seeing now is nothing more than damage control. None of those officials want to be called as a witness when this goes to trial, even if what they knew or heard was a rumor. Duty to report comes to mind and nobody said a word. Ironically i'm sure that the sheriff had no problem telling investigators why he did it right off the cuff.

This is my hometown! This is tragic to our community! Both families are all socially friends to most of the county! This is hard to hear. Prayers for both families and the community!

Something was going on. There was a case involving a former deputy taking inmates into that judge’s chambers.
