Nico you are my FAVORITE YouTube teacher. I like it that you are humble and down-to-earth. You explain all of the steps clearly and with excellent graphics to make it easier to understand. Keep up the good work

Great advice, I couldn't agree more. I come up with my video idea, then do the keyword search and adapt my idea around the results, work very well

And this is so important you are a small channel to do the proper research so you get more successful ranking for your videos. Looking forward to the new tools Nico 👍

Thanks Nico! I have to admit that keyword research isn't much of my workflow, mostly since it doesn't turn up hardly anything in my field. All the keywords with more than about 10, 000 hits are very, very basic, and there are a lot of important, very relevant topics with hardly any search flow at all. Now, I could just abandon all those topics as being too small, but I prefer to get the right material across, trusting that if and when folks are interested in those topics they will find the videos using those search terms. I'm not sure how else to do it.

This is something really important and what I wish I knew years ago! I always just did videos that I wanted to make, but didn't search well. Now that I am taking my time to research before creating these videos, I found a ton of different low-medium competitive keywords to rank for! I now understand that in the beginning you should follow the low competitive keywords and later as my channel grows I can add on bigger keywords and always come back to the videos I wanted to do.

Hi Nico! I make the video and then do the research as well. My channel is interesting because it’s always about the primary thing I do...Plein Air Painting. I do discover in my research terms that help with ranking. It usually relates to things like “painting a snow scene” or “oil painting snow scene.” The fundamental thing is still plein Air Painting, which on its own is highly competitive. I think I have one video under that search term in the top 30 but that’s the best I’ve done. Interestingly enough, MorningFA.ME is always recommending that I make more videos like that one.

well said, and honest. I know I should think of the term first, I try to.

Hmmm... interesting. I used to do the idea first, too. But will have to change the strategy here, I guess. Thank you for the great video.

Like you, I do my keyword research on the back end to optimize videos for publication (which tends to work since I'm mostly project-based anyway, rather than a "trend chaser"😉). One of these days, when I finally clear my idea list, I'll likely switch to front-loaded research to leverage things that are already being searched for!

Thank you Nico, it is amazing that such a common sense approach had escaped me prior to watching your video. I feel a bit silly and very grateful you offered this video. You are BRILLIANT!

Hi Niko, this is very correct for the most video types, i'm pretty sure, but it does not really work this way for my niche (gaming). But as i am going to start a second channel with tutorials and howto videos in january, i think this will become very, very important for me. Thanks for sharing your informations :)

Really looking forward to that keyword research tool. It sounds like it's shaping up to be nothing like what's on the market right now.

Hi Nico, you have more subs than me now! Nice going :) I've done a lot of keyword research after making videos, but this is for the videos I have in series, especially my Star Trek episode reviews. But I rank well for those, anyway, as I have very little competition. For my series called Authors Answer, I've been researching keywords before recording to figure out what would be the best title. I already know the question being answered, and I focus my answers on the keywords. On my science channel, I research before. I did a lot of research for my solar system exploration series I'm working on now.
