The treatment of dandruff varies form antifungal lotions, antifungal shampoos and certain anti-inflammatory lotions in case of severe itching. Dandruff itself is associated with itching. So using an antifungal shampoos reduces the itching and sometimes causes a mild burning or stinging sensation after they wash if off especially when having a bath. Antifungal medicines like ketoconazole cause drying of the scalp.
