As a hairstylist of almost a few years, I can tell you, that you are not meant to apply strong hair shampoo on your hair.
I've noticed hair lines of so many folks, and I spotted that folks who were using strong shampoos typically had poor hair line.
So I suggest only to use gentle shampoo only. I myself use and advise to apply littleextrra coconioon shampoo only.
Also, do hot oil massage twice a week as it enhances circulation and promotes healthy hair growth.

Thanks so much for your content. I listened to influencers and coworkers who were saying that if you have oily hair you need to "balance" your scalp by going long periods of time without washing it b/c it's an over-washing issue. Learned my lesson as I ended up with an awful seb derm situation that required prescription steroids to start to heal. Took mnnths and months to really get it under control. The lesson? Only listen to derms - I should have known better...

I rarely comment in videos, but I have to this time because I am very grateful for your informative, concise, honest, intelligent and present assessment of the dandruff issue. Respect, thank you.

I'm a doctor myself, and her science, way of relaying that information and presentation are perfect!

My 11 year old daughter and I both started suffering itchy flaky scalps for about a year now and we've been trying to manage it incorrectly, apparently. I've seen a lot of derm videos on dandruff but Dr Ellis's video really caught my attention because I just like the way she explains things - we both started using a dandruff shampoo similar to nizoral that we like and use a few days a week and we now have flake free itch free scalps. Thank you so much Dr Ellis, you're awesome

The only thing I have found that worked 100% was a shaved head. I haven't tried Nizoral yet. Shaving my head doesn't suit me but no more dandruff.

I was hoping you would mention apple cider vinegar! I heard about that many years ago. Mix one part apple cider vinegar to three parts water in a spray bottle and apply on your scalp and let sit for 20 minutes or so before taking a shower. Then wash your hair as normal. It worked! It was amazing. I'm sure it won't work for everybody but that's my go-to now.

This is a great video. Id recommended people see a dermatologist. I notice many general practitioners just assume it’s fungus and prescribe that ketonazole shampoo, I’m a home care nurse and see it all the time. When my son was younger I took him to the dermatologist and found out it his was psoriasis.

⚠️ I wished nutrition aspects were discussed in this video. If you’re not eliminating the root cause of the fungus’ food, you’ll continue to have dandruff. The right diet can permanently starve the fungus.

Ive been dealing with seb dermatitis for decades now. Took me a long time to accept that it’s a chronic issue. Regular hair washing definitely helps. Mine always starts to act up the longer I wait between washes. It can be annoying bc I’m dying my hair now to cover grays and most dandruff shampoos are pretty harsh. I think selsun blue works great but the smell is horrible. It permeates everything. Used to love t sal but it’s become impossible to find.

I have a sensitive itchy dermatitis scalp, folliculitis, and very coarse thick wavy salt and pepper hair. I just tried Superzero solid shampoo for flakes and itches and it made my scalp feel less itchy. It also made my hair shiny, soft, and bouncy. Love it so far!

I have seb derm and I found that when I eat highly processed foods it makes it flare up. But when I don’t eat processed food then my derm essentially disappears. My scalp isn’t itchy and I don’t have to use a dandruff shampoo.

After years of trying different shampoos/methods of getting rid of my dandruff as well as being sucked into various other treatments, this video has been a breath of fresh air! I was convinced that washing my hair too much was a bad thing but, after this video, I've realized I've probably not be washing it enough! I've bought myself a good anti dandruff shampoo and will aim to wash my hair more often and see if that helps. Thank you so much!

OMG, THANK YOU THANK
Finally a video that helps us figure out if its dandruff or dry skin! There are so many videos talking how to treat it...but not how to diagnose it in the first place.
Appreciate your content so much :-)
