Apple got too greedy. They should have already increased base RAM AND SSD specs at list by 2x considering how much cheaper those components now cost.

Looking at some of the comments, it seems like Apple is training AI models to market their products on tech reviewers' channels lol. Both products have their pros and cons so pick your poison.

As someone who used Windows laptops for like 70-80% of my life, once I switched to Mac I can’t go back, the battery life is too good, memory management is way better, the overall OS is much quicker and snappier, no constant security updates every 5 minutes, no bloatware, works great with my other Apple devices, just a much more enjoyable experience

I'm glad that you used a Lenovo laptop. They are premium products on the PC side. Most MacBooks are premium laptops. Both are excellent for programming. Other industries there are some advantages & disadvantages.

- MacBook Pros for professional video/photo editing and DJs. Greatest for laptop battery life.
- Premium PCs for non-programming engineering, finance/insurance, and gaming. Also, phenomenal value in the desktop market.

Unplug the windows and it turns into a 1990’s Celeron machine with only 3 hours of life.

Comments from brainwashed Apple users are really frustrating me (I don't own a Windows; I use a MacBook). The purpose of this video is not to compare features between them; it's intended to assess the raw performance you get for every dollar spent. In this video, we are comparing a $1800 laptop (just checked the price) with a $2700 MacBook Pro that doesn't even have the specs of its counterpart. We already know silicon chips are more power-efficient, allowing for better performance when unplugged. However, that doesn't justify Apple ripping off the world.

No matter how good the M3 processors are, the biggest problem with Macs is their "Apple Tax" on SSD and RAM.
If I spend around $1500 - $2000 for a good laptop, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD are basic requirement.
It's useless even if you got blazing speed but you are out of storage or memory.
Right now, processing photos / videos are eating up more storage and memory
As a 16" Intel Macbook User, I am seriously considering returning to Windows after all.

Hey man, I love the comparisons you do for all the laptops you review, but could you try and add comparisons for other aspects too ? A lot of the comparisons are heavily based on videography, photography, 3d rendering and similar workflows. I think it would be really helpful to a lot of people if you could compare more Engineering related applications on Mac and PC. For Eg Solidworks, Physics Simulations using softwares like Ansys, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Training AI Models, Speed tests for linux based softwares, MATLAB simulations, and so on. I understand that these tests are much harder to design but till now I've not seen anyone comparing these aspects for Mac, PC and performance gains in each new generation of products.

People still believe 8gb M1 RAM is equivalent to 16gb PC RAM, hilarious😂. Apple needs to provide 16 gigs for the base models on the same price and stop slowing down base SSDs wtf.

I like to use my laptop like a laptop, not plugged in.

AMD laptops have pretty good battery life, I think they are a good middle ground.
I see a lot of people at work struggling with M1 Macs which are not great at a lot of workflows. But people choose Macs if they can, don't ask me why.

Gaming is a guilty pleasure and distraction. Having one machine for working, projects and gaming is kind of a curse hidden in a blessing. As someone who console games I prefer it over a PC for this reason.

That speaker comparison was very impressive

The Mac laptops are good for YouTube content creators. They have optimized video pipelines, both hardware and software. The PC laptops are for gaming and serious software development, particularly in the enterprise space. I use both so no sacrifices on my end.

Try to compare with AMD laptops. I never seen you comparing Apple vs AMD, maybe I missed this

To make a car go faster Windows adds more horsepower and higher octane fuel. Apple makes a car go faster by adding more aerodynamics and reducing weight

Went MacOS on an Air no plans on returning to Windows. No competition, best laptop I have owned. And I used to dislike Apple a lot 🤫

I selected the AMD version as it is more power power efficient and has powerful integrated graphics in addition to the RTX. Overall the AMD 7840HS IMHO is comparable to the M1 PRO which I also own. Unless you need to run some heavy games, you do not need to lug around the heavy 230W AC adapter, I run fine on a light 65W USB-C power adapter. Also note that the LEGION comes with 8GB dedicated video memory in addition to system memory, thus 32GB is 32GB+8GB. Unified memory is in my opinion a hype when it comes to efficient sharing between system and graphics.

Also you should add RAM in the second slot of the LEGION, it costs virtually nothing (I paid $1 (!) through an eCoupon) and will double your memory bandwidth. Should help on those export times.

That said I prefer MAC OS over Windows11 (Like windows 7 though) and the battery life on the Mac is just fantastic. Now if only Apple would have done something on their RAM/SSD pricing, it is just crazy.

Just ran Geekbench 6 on battery, no fans spinning, single core score=2265 (Yeah the M3 is almost 50% faster on battery power)

In my last two contracts as an embedded software developer I was lent £1, 000 laptops from Lenovo and HP. Both worked for a reasonably long time on a battery because they were not being run in performance mode. They were both fast enough in power saving mode for my needs.

A Mac would not have been able to run any of the software development tools I needed to use without resorting to Rosetta and so these two companies did not consider buying me a MacBook for a second. All of these tools might have run under Rosetta, although the fact that one of the tools required a dongle makes me doubt this.

YouTube reviewers mainly use their laptops for video editing which is why they rave about MacBooks which excel in this task. Unfortunately the majority of the obscure apps that I use only run under Windows.

Why get a laptop if all you do is leaving it plugged in. Wouldnt a good itx build be a better option if so. When comparing a laptop to another the battery life is one of the biggest factors when chooaing one. I havent had a macbook yet but seeing the battery life and the good performance of them is turning my focus of Windows laptops to macbooks for the first time ever. It is crazy to say but macbook is my pick of these two.
