Anybody else think Lee made this video as an alibi to explain the sticky keyboard to his wife?

Wife doesn’t get her own Mac? “Here’s the sticky laptop I taped up.” 😂

Using windows for 10+ years and not knowing what OneDrive is wild

To remove stickiness from old fake rubber products, use the CIF bathroom cleaner. It is the only cleaning product I tried that completely removes all the stickiness and leaves you with actually nice to use feel.

It is bizarre that many high end electronics still use these kinds of materials.

With Windows PC's I build my own. With Laptops, I reformat them and do a fresh install of Windows with minimum telemetry. No bloatware or any other crap. I'm an Engineer. I've worked for multiple multi-national corporations. Every industry I've worked in, from trains, oil rigs, ships, medical and now laboratory equipment has always needed Windows. Mac OS is too locked down and hard to customise for a lot of companies. Setting up a Windows PC can be a pain if you're not used to it, but it's not difficult to switch off all the background crap and advertising. It's only a constant problem if you let it be that way.

“That’s just Windows now.” Nope, that’s been Windows for 20 years, now you can see it.

This says more about DELL than Windows. I have switched on my Old Vaio SVZ after 6-7 years, still on Windows 7 and worked like a charm

The way he was describing the issues he had on Windows literally made me laugh out loud. It was comedy.

As a music producer, it blows my mind when I constantly see people on Reddit recommend Windows because "the specs are just as good if not better." Then they find out they have to install a separate audio driver, adjust settings for latency, move config files from one folder to another for better performance or something...switching to Mac might have added years back to my life in the form of saving time and reducing stress lol

This happened to me. I needed a laptop for my digital mixer for live gigs, and my wife insisted it needed to be a mac. So much so that she bought me one. I connected the mixer, and audio was working flawlessly in about 3 seconds. Literally! On a windows machine there are hours of installs, tweaks, and patches needed to make things work, and even then. Then came photography. Once I saw how color management was universal from app to app, and from screen to printer I was done with windows. I could not beleive how my prints matched my screen EVERY time. I thought it was magic. I never did get Windows color management to work well. I always had to toggle things on and off, and reload profiles. Even then, I'd view something on the desktop with completely different colors than photoshop, even though the settings were set the same. I still have 2 machines, but windows might as well be an xbox. It's a beast for playing games. Anything that needs to get done gets done on the mac, and I haven't even experienced Apple Silicon yet.

I am Mac user but I think maybe you should use a current laptop to make it a fairer experience.

😂 I laughed throughout this entire video because I can relate. I told my wife for yrs Mac is a ripoff. I bought the MacBook Pro max m2 in March and ended up selling my editing pc a month later. I’ll never go back. I ended up buying my wife a MacBook Air and I never have seen her use a computer as much as I have now. It just works.

3:27 the reason the computer may not have booted after a while is if the CMOS battery had ran out-it keeps track of the time and some BIOS settings so if your computer ever runs out you won't need to configure the time again. However, the CMOS battery, like all other batteries, runs out after a while.

Whether it’s macOS vs Windows or iOS vs Android, the most valid argument is “it just works”

When I was a kid I loved going through every setting, using utilities to make things the way I want them, etc, so I get it…but that’s when computers were toys to me. Now they’re tools.

Feels a bit overdramatic. Yes, setting up a Windows system from scratch takes a while. After that though, it just works. Every problem you're describing apart from the restarting issue is due to lack of proper setup. You can turn OneDrive notifications off, you can turn the newsfeed off, you can change the start menu to not show you any ads - or tiles, for that matter. Default windows is a pain, that's fair. However, the whole point of a Windows system over macOS is that everything about it is virtually 100% customisable, so you can set up your system to look and work exactly the way you want.

Great video, exactly the same experience, Windows user and pc support person for 30+ years. A real pc fan boy. Switched to Mac just over a year ago due to software we develop on, and crap not ever going back to windows. I get the Apple ecosystem now and things just work.

Wow man, 2 years passed? Hard to believe.
When I was watching the first and the second Mac videos of yours, I was literally thinking about today while laughing your situation because I was having more or less the same complaints abound 10 years ago. Today I was laughing one more time because I was suffering for my wife, exactly the same about 2 years ago. Eventually I gave her my previous Mac and now no Microsoft products in our house (except company PCs). Big congratulations that you've acknowledged us without being an Apple Fan. This is a fine balance ;)

I used to repair computers in a little repair shop. We did a lot of format and reinstalls due to systems being toasted by malware. People were so confused why they couldn't get their systems back same day. Sometimes it was due to customers in front of them in our workflow but most of the time it was because it took 4 hours to format and reinstall and properly download and update all the updates from windows. this was 2008 so we dealt with a lot of Windows XP and earlier OS's

These videos don't have much to do with Fstoppers or photography but by now those are my favourites. I just love to see Lee get really dramatic and upset about annoying stuff :D
