If you want to delete instead of backspace, hold the fn key down and press delete, it then acts exactly like the windows delete key. Two key presses required yes, but it eventually becomes muscle momory.

I recommend:
- pasta, for the clipboard
- rectangle, for resizing windows with shortcuts
- ctrl + c to copy the the screenshot and not save it
- fn + del to use delete backwards

apps are both free and works amazing

I agree with you. One of the features that I like the most is how macbook stays at the same speed even though the battery life is about run out.

06:54 Small tip: You can have a screenshot automatically available in the clipboard, instead of being saved to a file, if you hold down Ctrl as you are dragging and releasing the capture border 👍🏻

I just ordered my first M3 Mac MacBook Pro having never used MacOS and being a lifetime windows user. The file management stuff is what makes me the most nervous so my game plan is to try to find some applications that give you a more Windows-like file management experience

Great video. The thing that I can’t get beyond is how hard it will be to learn an entirely different OS. It seems like it would not just take months to learn the complete gamut, but building the muscle memory to do it all again without thinking. These devices add hundreds of new functions every year so I salute you for your willingness to invest so much time to learn something new.

This was exactly my experience going from Windows to Mac for everything. Took a little bit of time getting used to it but now I see the benefits.

I haven't scrolled to see if someone's mentioned this yet in another comment but for the multitask view 7:46 you can hold option when hovering the fullscreen button, and what it does is allows you to fullscreen/split screen an app you're using without actually entering "Fullscreen" mode. This should allow you to open up other windows on top of your splitscreen view.

Hoping these solutions help anyone with similar issues !

1. Pressing and holding control when doing any of the screenshot commands (e.g. cmd + shift + 3 for fullscreen screenshot or cmd + shift + 4 for selective screenshot) saves the screenshot to clipboard instead of saving to desktop

2. You can get clipboard manager apps like Maccy

3. My personal favourite mac hack is Rectangle which is absolutely free and lets you snap windows like you can on Windows ! Including with keyboard shortcuts :)

4. You can definitely change how the dock works (i.e. moving it to one side of the screen, making it disappear entirely until you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, changing its animation, getting rid of recents, etc.) in settings

As a user of both operative systems, I think that a good combination is having a MacBook and a Ws PC so that you can get advantage of the amazing battery life, the portability and experience a MB brings, but can still use windows at home when needed due to its productivity, compatibility and multitasking performance.
Nice video, keep it going!

CMD + Shift + 5 on your keyboard brings up the screen clip feature. You have a plethora of options for how you want your clips to be stored i.e. clipboard, desktop, downloads, etc.

Hey! I have recently switched to mac from windows too, for the delete key you can use fn + backspace. I was so used to using delete that editing text felt really slow until I discovered the key combination

A big point to highlight. As a developer you will have a nice time installing dependencies. You also have a native bash/zsh shell, as opposed to powershell. It’s as close as you can get to a linux box without running linux, wsl aside.

First time on the channel. I think the video is great. Videos about day to day experience are much more understandable for normal users than watching benchmarks. Some things i've read in the comments and what i learned myself. The "delete" function can be used with the function and backspace keys (read that in the comments and tried it out, it worked) or by pressing the control and "D" keys simultaneously.
For the screenshots you could try using command+shift+5 instead of command+shift+4 (which i assume you use). You can just copy the screenshot (with command+c) then and paste it to where you want it to be. Also command+shift+3 would be a screenshot of the whole screen.

Hey bro, you can actually customise your dock in the setting, and you can drag the folders you always use to the dock for easy access

10:58 You can move the dock to the left (or right) of your screen as well and you could also make it smaller and leaner (even have it auto-hide), more like a quick launch area and use spotlight search to get to other apps.

Great review! There are Excel shortcuts on Mac as well, it was originally written for MacOS in the 80s before it was released for Windows.

2:48 There is a way to use the windows delete key on mac. Just use function and backspace (delete). It does the same thing. It is annoying that it doesn't have dedicated key tho.

I just got a Mac today, and the switch from Windows is kind of hard. The user interface is so different. I didn't know how to close a browser lol. I thought when I clicked the "x, " it would close the browser. It just minimizes the application.
