I'm bugged that the new version doesn't have the impulse engine on the back of the hull, it only has the two for the saucer section. It's molded on there, but no red plastic. Going to need some neon red model paint to fill that in.

The only thing about this toy that really bugs me is the deflector dish, it's supposed to sit vertical in the housing. And the center antenna is too big.

If you have Playmates ear, you should suggest to them to make a deluxe version that has painted underside, filled in screw holes, corrected vertical deflector dish and the detailed sculpted battle bridge area when separated. And if they can price it for $60 - $65 would be awesome!

No impulse drive on the Stardrive section, no lower phaser arrays, a bridge modual that is just blatantly wrong, and the fact that it is missing some key sound effects give the edge to the 92 version; in my opinion. I prefer the 6-ft model proportions, the saucer being able to separate is very cool, and I do appreciate that the deflector is the correct color (even if the shape is a little bit off); but the 2023 version is just missing too many standard details that were present on every iteration of the ship.

No they are not escape pods, they are the doors that cover the escape pods.

The underside on the 1992 clearly has painted escape pods and a painted, raised phaser strip - both of which are missing on the 2023.

I bet it's tricky to get a separating Enterprise with a properly shaped "cobra head" on the stardrive section that also can withstand being separated and rejoined over and over. My parents found me and my brother's old 1992 Enterprise in a storage closet. Good times.

It had 3 models for the show. The 6 Footer was the hero model that looks the best, so I would say, duplicating the 6 footer is a no brainer.

My major disappointment is that there is no entering warp effect. Especially since one of the Picard dialogue effects is “Engage”

The deflector dish is sculpted incorrectly, it should be vertical not slated inwards.

I got this mostly for the more sleek design. I like it more because of that alone. That and the blue in the deflector dish. Do wish it had the warp sound. Looks much better in person.

ah thanks. i was wondering if they were the same size. from the way people were holding it the new one was smaller. i just really wish they did more paint on the underside. even if it was just the phaser array. ideally i would like this on a top shelf but seeing how there's nothing underneath you can't really do that. i would rather them not have painted the windows if they were going to not do the bottom part. it seems it wasn't well thought out.

Do we have a workaround for the lack of lower phaser strip on the saucer and battle bridge on the secondary hull? Please chime in folks with 3D printers.

The deflector dish is not correct. Would have loved the back bridge conference room to light up. Gotta paint the phaser strip under the saucer.

If playmates has the current license for Star Trek toys they need to get on it and put out about a 1/1000 scale strange New worlds Enterprise. Make it for collectors and not kids. Make it to where the lights can stay on, Make the marker lights flash. As popular as strange New world is all we have is a couple round two models that you have to build/paint yourself were the little eagle moss ones that you have to find second hand.

The 92' Enterprise's nacelles intentionally were removable. Came that way in the box. I used to pretend they were hand phasers as a kid in the 90s.

I know that the original Enterprise and the Enterprise D are the two most iconic ships that Playmates will only build, but I wish they could make either the Enterprise A (or even 1701 refit from the movies) or the Sovereign Class Enterprise E. Those were my two favorite ships in all of Star Trek.

I think it's a decent ship my main issue being that most of the (actual) lights are dark instead of maybe being glow in the dark and the creamy white tone which is likely model accurate but due to the filming style always looked Medium grey to me.

I really think you guys need to check out the big Playmobil models especially tos enterprise as the app functionality is something that might be lost in later years and I think you should try it out in the best light
