Step 1: Make 2 lists, one for people you want to level up the relationship with; and the other for people you wish to meet but haven't.
Step 2: Make a relationship action plan - build into your weekly schedule a connection hour and fill it every week with a different person.
Step 3: Avoid repeating questions. Focus on goal oriented questions, instead of boring ones, ask them specific questions about personal passions, goals, and other deep topics to get them thinking.
Step 4: Think what can you give to others, through advice, recommendations, new contacts, places. Basically find ways to help their current issue.
Step 5: Leave a lasting impression. Like, giving a thank you note, sending them birthday cards or relevant articles, writing LinkedIn recommendations.

Great tips! It makes “networking” more actionable. The step of offering the other person help is very useful. It moves you from a taker to a giver, someone who potentially wasted the other person’s time to someone who is actually adding value to their life. It makes the meeting an unexpected win for both parties involved.

I love these tips! I love all of your tips. They are so doable and straight and to the point unlike some advice where I sometimes think "I would never say that." or "do people talk like that?"
