the basis for Jungian Psychoanalysis is:
*"That, what you fear and avoid, that, which you hold in contempt, that, which disgusts you, and that, which you avoid, that is the gateway to what you need to know."*

or in my own words:
*"Face whatever you want to face least."*

I don't know who you are Mr. Bite-sized Philosophy but thank you so very much for pulling out these little daily highlights for everyone who can't always watch a full lecture. Dr. Peterson deserves to be heard, and in our fast moving society its very important to have an easily accessible and summary highlight of his lectures.

This is so accurate. I'm an Osho sannyasin and I have listening to him for the last years (I'm 28 y/o), I travelled to his ashram in India and did, I do on a daily basis, meditation practices. I can assure you that the real spiritual work is nothing but pain. This new age bullshit "be happy" is such a dangerous statement. To be "actual happy", you need to dig in the deepest shit.

Brilliant staging. He walks into the shadow as he describes chasing pleasures, and walks back towards the lit center as he describes a more courageous path.

I find myself in close agreement with virtually everything that Peterson says on these topics.

Im glad that there are these bite sized videos from Jordan's lectures. Watching the whole lecture is mentally tiring at most so these clips are a great gateway to ideas.

1:00 "We embody a lot of information in our action, and our action has developed as a consequence of imitating other people. And not only the people around us, but, of course, the people around us imitated the people that came before them, and those people imitated the people who came before them and so on, so far back that it's as far back as you can go. So you embody these patterns of behavior that are extremely informative that you don't understand that are consequence of collective imitation across the centuries."

2:12 "...the fundamental, archetypal structures of religious belief were not pathological, not deceitful, not protective in some delusional sense against the fear of death, but quite the contrary. The very stories that enabled us to move forward as confident human beings in the face of chaos itself."

Damn ...such a beautiful articulation of the function of archetypes, and Jungian psychology in general .... Jordan Peterson clearly held Jung in high regard, as I think any psychologist should in this day and age, or at the very least, be willing to explore his profound and prolific insights.

It seems like following your bliss is really just the least possible efficient way of doing it, like circumnavigating the globe to arrive at your destination on the other side of town.

So according to Jung deities and folklore are the manifestation of the imagination of the group collective formed via the passing on of cultural information (aka memes) through the centuries.
Therefor he who controls the memes controls the collective perception of reality and change reality.
Meaning pushing atheism could be used to force the collective unconscious to return back to a blank slate and reprogram it.

I worry for Dr. Peterson. His influence has grow such that many Twitter-verified ideologues whose sole purpose is to cut down anyone who does not confirm to their far left Marxist views opening discuss their disdain for him. It's the very same people who will insure that James Damore is never hired in Silicon Valley again. I'm sure that Peterson can weather the worst; I'm just concerned of the magnitude of storm.
