'People tend to take pride in who they are, and that's a BAD idea, because that stops you from becoming who you could be' - such a counter-intuitive statement but so powerful and widely applicable!. Thanks!

"Are you order? Are you chaos? Or are you the process that mediates between them? And if you are the process that mediates between them, you are the thing that transforms."

Everyone has a dark side and it is there to protect you from the darkness of others. Everyone needs to get to know their dark side and how to integrate it so you can use it when you need to. If someone tries to manipulate you, humiliate you, guilt trip you, abuse you or otherwise harm you, your dark side will teach you how to fight back. If you don't acknowledge or learn how to use it, you're basically just signing yourself up to be walked on your whole life.

I like what he said about not getting attached to who we are. Not being too proud of our current self. otherwise you don't evolve or improve.

What I got to experience today is this:
- Risk feeling uncomfortable.
- Risk upsetting someone
- Risk letting your light shine brighter

"Morality as cowardice"

That plays so well into something I've been struggling to figure out.

Shadow work is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s also been the most rewarding. To know that I’m not perfect has been the most freeing knowing I have ever known.

Being a warrior in a garden is better than a gardener in a war. Be capable of chaos and retribution, and control it. That’s the true encounter with the shadow

Write down all the devious, deceitful and terrible things you’ve done. Write down the things you’ve stolen and the lies you’ve told. Write down about the time you back stabbed someone. Write down about the physical fights you been part of. Now that’s your shadow. Wear it and only use it when you need it.

I love that, and it's authentic..."I'd rather be whole than good". And it's so true, I've been so guilted and abused, labeled as aggressive for sticking up for myself, that I've gotten into the habit of not saying No, or feeling guilty if I do. Will I be seen as uncooperative or resistant, aggressive. I've been pushed into corners by those who think they have the right to control me & that it is ME who is always the problem, all while they turn their heads to the true oppressors and Predators.

to accept my chaos was the most scary thing to do, then I realized I am nor order nor chaos... I am in between the two, therefore I am always evolving and always climbing up.
ty for this presentation, Jordan Peterson and I mean it. Ty to the audience who asked this question.

my life will never be the same, ever again. One love

The shadow isn’t just bad, it’s anything that’s repressed from ego conscious awareness like hurts traumas emotions, that when brought into conscious awareness can be dissolved and you make way for your higher self or spiritual self or core to be renewed where you live in absolute self trust and vibrant flow

Absolutely amazing. Since I don't want to spend any more time or money in a therapist's office I ask questions to YouTube and ask to see Dr. Peterson and he gives me some really good insight. I'm very happy that he has so many videos.

That guy managed to ask such a hard question in a very eloquent way, impressive.

I was really attracted by the idea that man's biological essence is to voluntarily confront chaos and that's what results in growth. I believe that if you analyse your own life skilfully enough, you'll be able to spot this analogy in your own growth. Volunteering and being willing to do something in the face of chaos, something we innately fear, for the prize of growth, is what constitutes the indomitable spirit for me.
