Respectfully, everyone who had Minecraft in their Childhood could never get enough of Animations. Getting an animated movie with an actual movie budget would have been a dream come true for all of us.

Love it when Hollywood says: "we don't listen to the fans, we do it our way." And ultimately when the film underperforms they'll call the fans toxic and then go on to make something else that's unoriginal and do the whole thing over and over again. I personally think they're making their money on insurance when a property fails. But like they always say: "when you're in a hole, keep digging... And if someone offers you a hand, drag them down with you."

A silent film about a gruff man surviving in the block world would have been just fine. Focus on the horror parts of minecraft, could make a pretty cerebral experience

Steve not being a character is the biggest ly in existence. Even the official animations from mojang had Steve portrayed as an more interesting person than just a random celebrity putting on a shirt. I understand the scaling of blocks being to big for real live but if they would have actualy just went ahead and animated the whole thing Steve and all the characters would have been bigger in size too. So the scaling issue wouldn't even exist in the first place. It's honestly just sounds like stupid excuses they had to come up with so at least someone is gone watch it at all.

When they originally release the sonic trailer, everybody was furious so the producers changed up the trailer and sonic as a character making him more accurate to the video games and it turned out to be one of the best.

They didn't actually explain away the crafting thing. There are only certain materials to make certain things. You can't just make whatever you want, that's a huge part of minecraft game play, figuring out how to make what you want with what you are given.

Biggest problem about directors in these adaptations is trying to reinvent the wheel.

Shoulda played into the horror aspect of Minecraft.
Regular dude gets ported in and sees the titanic figures walking around, Steve is 2 meters tall and almost one meter wide, can swim up waterfalls and carry lava around in buckets.
