This is what happened to the wildlife at the Chernobyl exclusion zone. We take a look at what's happened to the wildlife at the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

The Chernobyl disaster occurred on the 26 April 1986. During this event a nuclear reactor exploded and released radioactive materials into the atmosphere. Once investigations were underway it was announced that reactor number four had exploded. However many details were suppressed about what had happened and many were told to go in and clean up, not knowing the seriousness of the situation.

Incredibly we now know that the event emitted over 400 times more radiation than that released by the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Immediately after the event people were evacuated from the area.

Thank you for watching!

Thank you to CO.AG for the background music!

I lived in northern Italy during this disaster. We were told to take our shoes off before entering our homes, leave umbrellas outside, and tons of food were destroyed. We were amongst the lucky ones.

I don't think I'll ever want to stay a night in Chernobyl, actually not even an hour! The animals and plants thriving, Mother Nature at her best. Another great video lots of love from your Aussie friend Ann xoxo

Even in the Exclusion Zone Animals are still around living like Wolves, Bears, Birds, Etc. & We Still Do More Damage To Them Than The Radiation & That's Sad.

If they would plant more hemp in the effected area it would speed the deradioactivation even more.

After all these disasters and near disasters in my lifetime I really don't know how anyone still backs nuclear power in any form a good idea.

Why would anyone want to stay overnight?

True story: My sister told me recently that shortly after the Chernobyl accident, some guys she knew went Caribou hunting in Canada. They were successful with their hunt, but the meat was contaminated with radiation so they never got to eat it! 😳

It kind of reminds me of Times Beach, ...
This was a small city in Missouri U. S. A.
"Supposedly"....there was an extremely high level of dioxin in the top-soil, on which the majority of the town was built upon.
For..."reasons of public safety", the city was ordered to be evacuated.. NO exceptiond.
The government used it's...powers of Imminent Domain, and the property owners were given "fair market value" for their homes, businesses, etcetera.
So... everyone moved out... BUT.... to this day, I haven't heard of, not ONE single case of a/any former resident, or, descendants of former residents, being diagnosed with ANY of the known effects resulting from exposure to high levels of dioxin...which is known to be a particularly nasty, poisonous, potentiality carcinogenic chemical.
Some years later...some kind of video documentation, went into the...former city, and discovered that any and all of the indigenous flora & fauna were thriving.

Interesting. I watched a documentary on the wolves around Chernobyl and they did indeed find that they and birds are thriving. Good to see.

Yeah: I've watched some #Chernobyl tourism videos!! There's a channel on here called "cloth maps" or something, who are instructive!!

Getting humans out of a 30 mile radius of Ukraine appears to be the best thing that ever happened to it!!

Doesn''t seem to have produced any mutant wolves - though I have heard of mutant ants (tiny ones) and I think mutant pine trees!!

Those horses I saw them on the other channel above: they are actually Przewalski horses, specially introduced from Mongolia. Don't know where the bison came from. Scientists seem to be using it as an experimental zone; but in a good way, it would seem!!

You also forgot to mention feral dogs; though you showed a shot of one!

I remember when this happened. We were told to stay indoors for 3 days in western Scotland.

Nature will always find a way to survive. We, humans, won't and we don't even deserve it.
