This particular kind of pre workout supplement should not be dry scooped. It is a dry powder that is formulated to be mixed with water. Powder dry like this is not designed to absorb through buccal mucosa. If it was designed to be, then it would in fact, let the pre hit harder since it wouldn't go to the liver first to be broken down, that is, bypass first-pass metabolism. If that happened, the amounts of some key ingredients would likely be lower. Instead, by doing this, you're creating a choking hazard for yourself because of a troll and haha funny laughs at the expense of your own health. You likely can damage your lungs if you cough and breathe in enough powder because you tried this.

These cases are patients who I, or my colleagues have seen. They are de-identified and many instances have been presented in more depth in an academic setting. These videos are not individual medical advice and are for general educational purposes only. I do not give medical advice over the internet, see your physician in person for that.

Things that I've learned from this channel:
- Don't eat/take anything more than the recommended amount
- Don't eat from the gas station
- Don't try to drink lava lamp/ snowball as a substitute for alcohol
- Emia means presence in blood

As long as tik Tok exists this man will never run out of content.

It’s not just a choking hazard. A lot of Pre-Workouts are designed around being mixed with water; water isn’t simply to make it go down, it’s a key ingredient for activation of some of the chemical components.

The extra respect that comes from a doctor with a history of the subject presented. I had no idea you were a power lifter! That is awesome!

After doctors did a brain scan for JA, they found nothing inside his skull. JA’s mom then showed the doctors JA’s TikTok account, and this gave doctors some clues as to why this happened.

I think hospitals should just have a tik tok ward.

I've had a severe addiction to Caffeine since I was a kid (without it, I get bad migraines now). Over the past few months I've been enjoying a caffeine-heavy pre-workout and I have been dry-scooping under the assumption it would be absorbed into my body faster that way (only a single scoop daily, nothing insane) but now that I've seen this video I guess I have no reason to do that anymore.

Thank you, Doctor. Your videos will certainly have saved countless people in the internet's lives, if not at the very least significant unnecessary discomfort.

We need physicians to start checking their patient's latest tiktoks as part of their routine medical history inquiry -.-

As a nursing school student, I feel like the answer to all my triage related questions should start with, "before we do anything else, have we checked if the patient has a Tik Tok?"

Mans only made “A recovery”, not “a full recovery”. 😭

I am glad that you are doing medical work to help everyone recognize these dangers.

I once overdosed on caffeine, I took two scoops of what I thought was pre-workout, but my friend had actually put raw, pure caffeine into the tub, I had 5000mg (50 fucking cups of coffee worth) of caffeine in one go. After about 20 minutes I started to feel very dissociated, (I ended up hitting a PR in the gym tho which I was happy about!) and I slowly felt like I was getting lighter and lighter, and I slowly lost the feeling of my entire body, but not even in a nice calming way, oh no no, in a heart attack inducing, crippling anxiety kind of way, that shook through me like the gust of a thousand winds. After about 45 minutes, I knew something was very wrong. I had unimaginable stomach aches and chest aches, my nose was bleeding heavily, I was sweating bullets, I couldn't see or stand up right, I couldn't talk right, I had the sharpest headache I’ve ever had, I was in big trouble. I went down to get changed as quick as I could but this is where everything kind of went black for about an hour. Not fully sure how I even got home to be honest. Once I got back home, about an hour and a half had passed since I took it. Words cannot begin to describe what was happening to me, I really should've gone to the hospital. From about 3 in the afternoon until about 2 in the morning (this is not an exaggeration by the way) I was getting sick every 1-2 minutes or so. I spent about 11 hours huddled over a toilet, vomiting black, like just black, like I mean my vomit was just pure black and nothing else, it almost looked like ink, I don't know what it could've been, in hindsight actually it was probably blood. Most of the time I couldn't breathe because I was gagging and vomiting so much. It was absolute agony. I didn't sleep at all that night and spent the night sweating buckets and buckets, even with my window open in the middle of winter. I couldn't breathe properly the next day, from all the spasming of the diaphragm, I couldn't talk, taste or smell, from all the acid coming into my mouth and nose. I had lost about 3kg (6.75lbs) that night if I remember correctly, just from sweating and from my body trying to keep me alive. After watching this video, I think I got very very very very lucky!
