BJJ is an awesome art, but style vs style is old thinking. Best way is combined arts. Also he said, the only way to outstrike someone is to be faster... Respectfully disagree completely. There are many cases in which technique has trumped physicality in muay thai, boxing, wrestling, judo etc...

Not true!

BJJ adopted a lot from catch wrestling and luta livre. There was time when Helio and his brothers ambushed a catch wrestler they can’t defeat,

BJJ came from Judo.

This is not to bash BJJ, it’s a great art but Rener is saying something that is not really true.

Edit: in MMA a BJJ is not enough in the way other arts are too. When the strikers learned how to defend against grapplers, BBJ purist are in trouble.

Love BJJ, got purple belt 4 years ago, but, never go on the ground in a street fight. If you end up on the ground, get up as soon as you can, BJJ will help. Do not try triangle chocks, armbars, etc. The only submission I'd recommend is RNC, maybe guillotine or d'arce. But god forbit, triangle choke - you'll picked up and smashed on concrete. I've been in a few street fights, knees and elbows are the best weapons.

What about eye gouges, throat/adams apple pokes, or groin grabs?

Wrestling has produced the most UFC Champions, not taking anything away from BJJ, it's very important, and ranks second in champions produced.

Another reason why BJJ is so effective is because of the ability to pressure test without getting injured so you can go over and over again - you can't do this in striking arts without getting brain damage or hurt

And it’s a great way off showing force but non lethal force so it’s such a great way to get someone to sedle down and control them and really calm the person down

One key thing about that jitz though, it is not so good against multiple opponents simultaneously. A good striker can take out a couple or a few people within a few seconds. With jitz even if the opponents are untrained, while you are grappling one, the others will kick and stamp your head. One on one though, I do believe it is the best.

I like karate and judo. I usually fought jj people. They are tough during competition. But in street fight, where elbows, knees, biting, eye poking, you name it doesnt matter, they lose advantage. I say this because one time a purple jj guy told me to go all out on him. Then in one second, otoshi empi to his skull, he was out. Like other comment said, maybe in tournaments, but in a street fight, the ground is your last option to be
