Went to my first session and understood nothing coming out of anyone's mouth 🙃.

As someone once said: first you’re just a minnow around sharks; but after a year or so you’re like: OK, I’m a shark too, a little shark; but none the less, a shark.

10 classes in and the basics are beginning to slowly click in, and I'm finally able to go all week instead of my body screaming at me after 2 sessions lol

It took me 8 months before it made sense. Now I see things that don't see before.

I’m 60, and just finished my first week of classes. I’m a little sore, and a little lost, but I absolutely loved it. Everyone has been super nice and supportive. My goal is to make it to class at least three times a week, so hopefully I’ll understand what’s going on real soon.😅

I remember thinking after the first month was I’ve smelled too many balls to hold my head up. 😂

At 38 got my first stripe. Felt like ten years old again, going up for an award 😂😂

I started last week, and something that may be useful for new white belts is that your first few weeks, if not months should be dedicated to surviving. Don't worry about offense or holding dominant positions too much.

Work on setting up frames, escapes and sweeps, and fundamentals like the hierarchy of positions and defensive ranges before you move on to finishes.

I’ve only been in jiujitsu for 5 months and I already feel comfortable with everything and I have a lot of friends there

Just had my first class. I feel the same but I signed on and am just going to go with the flow. The more classes the more knowledge

My younger brother was in jujitsu for like 7-8 months or something before I joined I think- so it made it way easier for me because I had Already been watching him and learning from him. He has his first tournament next weekend and me the weekend after that. 💗

My first 6 months were great, my white belt days are much greater than my blue belt days, but that’s only because as a white belt I was by far more consistent.
