The yellow eyes only applies to those of the Dark side of the force that allow them selves to be completely consumed by Hatred.
Also note that there is a dark force use to conceal there true face...hence Darth Sidius.

Honestly, I see Kylo Ren as a Reven-type character. Someone who fell to the dark side but doesn't let it rule over him like Sith usually do. Not for lack of trying, that is, he's just angry at life. At best, he's a Dark Jedi

In the original script for episode nine, “Duel of the Fates”, Kylo seeks out a resting ancient sith alien, that’s both terrifying and powerful, who he accepts as his master for the grace of his training. If this were the case, he, the apprentice of a sith lord, may have accumulated yellow “sith eyes”. If only. Instead he sought out a resurrected palpatine for whatever reason.

In ROTS Vader technically was never “trained” as a Sith but yet we see him with yellow eyes. I think maybe it comes down to more of a complete acceptance and commitment to the dark side rather than being trained

The reason why his eyes are not yellow is because he wasn’t fully consumed by the dark side yet and was convinced by snoke for power that’s why he never got the title “darth” because Kylo ren wasn’t fully consumed by rage

And y’all stop saying Kylo ren is weak. He’s actually really strong Disney just doesn’t know how to make fight scenes and they tried to make it family friendly but Kylo ren is actually strong asf if you see him in the comics
