I think Ren represents how people see only what they want in an idol. Ren doesn't know or doesn't think Anakin's struggle was important, just what he did on the dark side. He sees the power Anakin had once he rose to be Darth Vader but invalidates everything he lost once he had that power.

The scene when Poe aimed to shoot Ren, and then he stopped the laser in motion with his Force Powers.
That was epic scene.
