Why Ben Solo/Kylo Ren HAD TO DIE in The Rise of Skywalker

Why did Ben Solo/Kylo Ren have to die? Well the answer is pretty simple and it actually makes the sequels somewhat decent, as long as you are only looking at them from Ben Solo's perspective.

In today's video we are going to go over why Ben Solo had to die and how it really completed the story of Skywalker.

I am not the biggest sequel fan in the world but there is something special about the character of Ben Solo that makes me think that he not only deserved better, but should have been the main character in the sequel trilogy.

The scene was poetic because not only did Ben finish what his grandfather started by saving the woman he loves but Leia also finished what her mother Started by redeeming someone she loved. (No I don’t mean in love)

Respectfully disagree, redemption through death only works if there wasn't so much potential for Ben to repent for being Kylo Ren considering that's what he wanted to do, it's easier and more lazy to kill a character to redeem them than to keep them alive. Anakin had a life before he became Vader, Ben never had a life.

Man this was a genius way of explaining the out of balance issue after ROTJ. This makes a lot of sense.

You make great points and present a good case, but I will always believe Ben Solo should have lived. Anakin and Padme did not get a happy ending as a couple. Ben Solo and Rey should have gotten one. The saga should have ended with a 'happily ever after', as Star Wars is and always has been a modern 'fairy tale' in space.

If Ben had lived he would have had to answer for all the atrocities he committed as Kylo Ren.

He became a force ghost and has reunited with Liea and he’s at peace

Rey takes on the name Skywalker in the end because it brings her full circle with her dyad. At the start of The Force Awakens, Ben was told, "I knew who you were, before you called yourself Kylo Ren... You may try, but you cannot deny the truth that is your family". Same goes for Rey now. The Force is not done with her.

I felt like the canon skywalker saga ended prematurely as there was no one left in the skywalker bloodline to continue the legacy and Rey just called herself Rey Skywalker

Pfft, that's a whole buch of bs you are trying to justify. Rey was ten times stronger than any Skywalker and she didn't even need any kind of training for that. This fact is easily demonstrated by feats thoughout the saga. Nobody comes close to Rey. Rey easily defeated "Master" Luke in sword combat, while Luke shivers in fear of Rey's true potential. Rey invents all kind of new force superpowers like easy instant healing [Kylo - a Skywalker - trying this as well but in contrast to Rey instantly dies; Anakin - being the supposed "chosen one", let alone Luke, both never came close to such a power; Anakin's life went to shit, because he did not have this kind of power to save Padme].
This whole balance talk is some major bullshit as well. How has Anakin brought balance to the force by failing to kill Palpatine if according to you Luke is the only one left thanks to Anakin and Luke is supposedly far too powerful [though we never seen any evidence for that in the Disney films] thanks to his big potential thus bringing inbalance to the force, although Anakin actually didn't even manage to kill Palps. Doesn't make sense at all. You might as well say Rey has brought balance to the force because she ultimately killed Palpatine (not Anakin, who failed and died) and all the Jedi of the past chose to support her as their ultimate champion [not Anakin, not Luke or any other Skywaker]. Rey has been made the big Mary Sue hero of the whole saga while the Skywalkers have been made all into a bunch of sad and pathetic losers with supposedly big potential but all fail to achieve anything and dying early and pathetic deaths. Luke, who wasted his whole life for nothing living alone in solitude as a loser, after having failed at his pathetic attempt of being a teacher and failing to teach Rey anything and then dying for absolutely nothing, except for a 30 second distraction, being the biggest failure of them all obviously. Anakin was a mass murderer, miserable human being living his whole life in pain and sadness and ultimately failing to kill the emperor but dying himself after havin plunged the universe into misery, having murdered many children in the process. And Leia never achieved anything with her supposedly big force potential, she is a failed mother, unable to keep her relationship together - a failed family thus her son becoming another mass murderer who kills among others his own father and Leia's husband. And thankfully Kylo, the second mass murderer in the Skywalker line, after killing his own father and cutting all ties to his mother and uncle, dies young because he is too weak to survive a single healing session [though Rey healing easily all the time without dying] to bring the pathetic und failed Skywalker line to a quick and final end, making the skywalkers the most pathetic family in all of fiction. While the Skywalker line dies out, Palpatine's line and heritage lives on and succeeds in Rey Palpatine, the most powerful force wielder ever seen in the galaxy. Thank you very much. The end.

if he had lived would he have become the most powerful skywalker of all of star wars

This is well thought out and I can really accept your points. You’re bringing balance to the sequels : )

The next director should make it so that he didn’t die but was force teleported or some bs.

Only somewhat interesting and most coherent character of the sequels.

But I don’t care really. I would prefer if they just retconned the sequels and start again with Luke, Hab and Leia right after episode 6.

I don’t agree with this although I think you made your arguments well. However his death isn’t good for the Sequel trilogy because 1) It is a Sequel to the Originals which were about Luke’s Story and That Hes not dependent on Vader’s past. It redeemed anakin. If Ben dies, it means he is dependent on Anakin, his family legacy. He only turned because he is a Skywalker. Luke got a chance to life, Ben doesn’t. 2) All the Original characters sacrificed their life so he could life. That the bloodline doesn’t die out. That one Skywalker can live without any burden of Vader. 3) He is despite his actions the character whose life NARRATIVELY is dependent on the Happy ending of the whole saga. He only was turned by Snoke because he was Anakins grandson. There is no point if he dies, proving he was doomed from the start. The force created the family. It’s a sadist if they are all supposed to have short horrible life’s.

Ben should have lived. A true redemption arc where the redeemed survives would have been nice. The story could’ve continued with Ben coming to terms with what he did as Kylo Ren. Helping Rey rebuild the Order, continuing on Luke’s legacy that he helped destroy. It would have made for some truly fantastic stories.

If that truly is the purpose to bring skywalker legacy to a close then Rey should’ve died then too. Because when you look at dark dimension you find out it was palpatine who pushed the midicloriones around anakins mother to create Anakin. Almost becoming his retroactive dad in a way. Then you have Anakin having Luke and Leia with padme, then becoming dark Vader. Leia having a kid with Han Solo who became Ben solo/Kylo ren, then palpatines son had a child who became Rey. See how they’re all connected both of the most powerful families intertwined.
If that indeed was the purpose then she should’ve died too. Since she actually chose skywalker as her last name at the end of the trilogy. Just saying

technically wouldn’t rey have to doe too

Palpatine should have taken Ben's body and a new trilogy should have started from there. Adam driver would be the new emperor and dominate the galaxy. Rey would have died in the fight against Palpatine and the new protagonist would be Finn who would be trained by Cal kestis, to defeat Palpatine in Ben's body.

Also those two were a diade in the force meaning they’re two of the same or two as one. Which also ties into the bloodline of palpatine and skywalker. Both being tied together in the force.

Tbh I still don’t think he needed to die. Rey is never gonna be a skywalker unless she like married kylo then she would have been related to the skywalkers by marriage. They could have let it end in a better way. They could have stayed together and Disney
Could have ended it like that. No baby no nothing just have let it end like that, rather than letting him die. They writing of these are lazy and the movies make no sense. The emperor needed have stayed dead too😭. The plot is the same as Luke’s, a poor kid find a bot and just happens to be a child of a Jedi or sith.
