I have a large jar that i collect words, sentences or small images out of old books or magazines. If I hear a stranger say something in passing that was interesting, I write it on a scrape of paper and throw it in the jar of inspiration. Then if I'm stuck, I may choose 3 random scraps out and use those to springboard some ideas from :)

Not lists all the time but the making of to get you going. I make it a habit to go to the museum to draw from the exhibits as often as I can. the drawings are getting faster and better as I go

Thanks for this. I turned 40 last year, and I feel like it’s finally time for me to work on creative endeavors I’ve put off. This is inspiring.

I love your videos. The past couple of days my nine year old and i are making time for " notebooking". I encourage her to paint, write, misspell and be wrong. You learn amazing things from giving yourself the love and the grace to be a beginner at something. . I've been making really crappy art with my polychromos but it makes me happy. I want my girl to learn to challenge herself. Being challenged is great. Love the journey.

My husband makes music (ambient music on his laptop)…everyday…I just asked him where he gets his inspiration from…he said; “dreams…observation…see something you like and think how can I attempt that…if you’re not happy with the results try it again, until you are satisfied “….and I think the key…like you said Danny….is that it is his regular habit.

I often feel creative, but I sometimes struggle to find where to direct that creative energy, if that may be by drawing or some other art. Cool video 👍

I feel a book coming on.... "Diamonds in the Dung - How To Stop Judging Your Art" by Danny Gregory. Seriously, this is great advice. Thank you Danny, and Happy New year!!!

I have been doing my 10 idea per day for 9 months now. I have been going back and crossing out things I have completed. it's a lot of fun. doesn't take long .

This is such a coincidence (the way I interpreted the question at least), because I recently started wondering if I might have aphantasia, since I suck at drawing from imagination. But the more I thought about it, the more I realise I have a really vivid imagination. When I read or write I sometimes don't even look at the words. Stuff just plays out like a movie in my head. I also daydream a lot and when I think of, let's say a cat, I can envision this cat very clearly, but the moment I have to draw said cat, the image just *poof* disappears. I think there is a disconnect between my imagination and my ability to accurately translate that to paper.

What a great way to get ideas for anything---writing, art projects, or any endeavor. I am going to start doing this and keeping a "brainstorming list" of ideas that could go possibly nowhere but possibly to creative, rewarding projects. The main thing is does is train the brain to think and be open to ideas. No one else has to see them, and even if they do, so what?

In my opinion, yes you have a lot in your mind.
Maybe what you could do like I did. I turned a sketchbook into an idea book.
I have projects there that could last me for 2+ years to complete, so I'll never run out of ideas.
The drawings look like a 5 year old did them, but I take notes on what the idea is, so when I go back to them I know right away what to do.

What a great idea to record my thoughts that keep me spinning in circles trying what to decide to do next. A great 10 list practice id like to try.

I just found your channel today! YouTube suggested it to me because apparently they thought I might like it, and they were right! I subscribed right after watching that first video. I have seen a lot of drawing channels on YouTube, most of them are good enough, but yours is the best I've ever found. Thank you for doing this!
