The Question of the day: How do I use wash n go styling to make my natural hair flow? How you wash and wear depends on your texture - for kinkier textures, cowashing and doing wash n go's more frequently (everyday) will give your hair that silky flow you're looking for. For those with loose curls, your wash n go can last a bit longer, as long as your hair stays hydrated.

From how to cowash in the shower to how often you should wash and wear your natural hair, this episode of Ask Dickey! has you covered.

Don't know your texture? We have you covered!

Now that I'm doing this method combined with see some curls, I realize how much it really just makes sense to weekly wet afro hair. When I first transitioned, I noticed my type 4 curls would "activate" on wash days and I'd be so excited to see a coil but just didn't connect that water is what activated it.

I have type 4a hair, and I've found that the stiffness is often directly related to low porosity hair and not absorbing moisture. The first time was able to get a flowy wash n go that hung and didn't need to be remoisturized for about a week was when I sat under a hooded dryer for half an hour with a deep conditioner, rinsed it out, and dried it for 45 minutes under the hooded dryer once I styled with glycerin, raw shea butter, castor oil, and gel. This routine worked super well for me. ANY hair type can be flowy. It just needs a lot of moisture like Dickey said.

I’m shaved sides lol thanks for answering my question via video! To answer your question I’m a 4a/b type hair texture. My hair however is extremely fine. I find that I get a lot of shrinkage and my wash n go tends to be stiff. I seem to get better results with twist outs but I’d really like to get my wash n go on point.

Hello Dickey, thank you for the videos. I have been doing a cowashwash for little over week, making sure I saturate my hair each time. I baggy at night and rinse after my work. Is it too soon to see more moisturized hair? My 4 type hair still frizzes up and fros, with no definition. ~Thanks

I have a question... I have extremely thick kinky hair (type 4C). I have recently adopted your method by doing a wash and go daily or, at most, every two days (yes, I remember Jeri Curls). Here is my struggle, my hair takes forever to dry! An hour and a half if I use a dryer! If I air dry my hair, it takes 8-10 hours to dry to the scalp. I cannot go to work with wet hair. Drying at night elongates my evening and I wake with less defined curls in the morning. Do you have any suggestions?
