As an ex electronics engineer I can assure you that you are being monitored through your mobile phones and other devices. This is achieved covertly by accessing your sim and combined with the International Electronic Serial number of the processor in the device which also includes a GPS tracker. This surveillance of your gadgets can reactivate your gadgets even when they are turned off so you will never know that it has been interrogated except the battery may be drained.
No amount of data protection laws will stop this because all laws are overiden by the anti terror legislation, legislation which was introduced by our own secret government forces and enforced by the imaginary scale of the fear mongering msm which has scares many people into allowing this intrusion. I have been saying this since flat screens arrived. People would say "why would they do that?" I would reply "why wouldn't they, it is an obvious thing to do" Of course noone listens to me cos I'm apparently mad. Bloody angry I know that, people need to wake up fast.

I've not owned nor had a TV in my home for over 20 years, last year I was given a Samsung smart tv for free from one of my sons and I thought ahh why not. It's connected to the wi-fi router and I usually use it to watch Youtube videos or a movie on a usb stick. The moment I started using the TV I got a creepy feeling I was being watched. To be honest I don't really care if I am being watched or who is watching me or why they're watching me, I simply got the feeling I was being watched. This video makes total sense to me.
If somebody wants to watch me pick my nose or drink a glass of wine whilst I'm watching a movie they must be pretty bloody bored indeed.

Have an older TV here, so not TOO worried. I do cover the camera on my lap top in case it even should be remotely switched on. Big Brother...always watching.

As an audio engineer I can affirm that the speakers on your tv can be used as a microphone. I use to use a 12 inch monitor as a drum mic very successfully for years. So, the reason you wouldn't be able to find a microphone is because the speakers are performing a dual role.

The best way to see if you have a camera or mic or both is learn how to log in to the tv via manufacturer login and the various advanced menus will have a test menu for these devices if they are available. You can usually find this information online because tv's have odd brightness settings that realistically need to be changed or turned off.

Well, I tried the thing with a torch, like you suggested. I used a small craftsman's propane torch, not a big oxy-acetylene torch. But still, it melted the whole TV bezel on my new 65" "smart" TV, and ruined it. So I took it to the landfill and dumped it. That solved my privacy worries with the TV! Thanks for the tip about the torch!!

You wouldn't even need a microphone in there, surely any speaker can be used passively to record if you like. I used to remember DJing and not having headphones. We would just stick the microphone in the headphone port and stick that to our ear. Best advice. Do not own a TV
