Why do they push your buttons on purpose?

Why do some narcissists push your buttons or set you off on purpose? Why do they enjoy getting a reaction out of you.

Some do it on purpose in order to feel like they are in control of you in some way, shape or form. Others do it on purpose to see what exactly you are willing to let them get away with. Narcissistic or toxic people love setting you off on purpose and feeling like they have some sort of power over you in the long run.

They will keep you on guard, not a very relaxing person to be near. They copy you, then predict how you gonna act so they can karate chop you with their antics. It's disgusting and humiliating, much like mockery 🥴

This is so true. He was supposed to go to an event with the old supply/ new "friend”. When I did not react after he made that announcement, he canceled and said he wanted to come by because he would rather spend his time with me instead 🙄, only to get on the phone to talk to her - on speakerphone no less - while we were having dinner. When that didn’t get a reaction (I did not know at the time that it was grey-rocking). When the attempt at emotional abuse didn’t give him the outcome he was looking for, he started with the verbal assault. He just kept escalating things to get some sort of twisted desired outcome. That’s when I said enough is enough.

I am now 3 months narc free thanks to you and your videos.

They are bloodsucking demons from the pits of HELL! My ex would get me all upset to the point where I was literally about to stroke out! He knew I had high blood pressure and he would just poke and pick until I just couldn't take it anymore. So glad he's moving out next week.

I went through this with my wife. She got mad at me and tried to choke me out! She had a look on her face that she was really trying to do harm to me. I had to get her off of me because she was really trying to hurt me because we got into over a space heater.

I'm extremely glad you're doing your utmost to get the message across to all the people caught up with destructive individuals, who aren't able to care!

I don't like to mention graphic cases, but this video reminded me of when I read about a woman who saved her abusive "partner's" life after a suicide attempt, then he ended up killing her for her trouble, which is a classic example of what can happen, not to mention one of the saddest stories I've seen. 😥
