How to Back up Files With File History in Windows 10.

File History is Windows 10’s main backup tool, originally introduced in Windows 8. Despite the name, File History isn’t just a way to restore previous versions of files–it’s a fully-featured backup tool.

In this tutorial, I'll walk you step by step through the correct way to use File History to restore files in a new Windows 10 installation. As I do, I'll point out some of the most common stumbling blocks and explain how to avoid them.

After you set up File History, you can just connect an external drive to your computer and Windows will automatically back up your files to it. Leave it connected and Windows will back up automatically on a schedule.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Thank you for the video. My laptop had a crash after a Windows Udate. I tried to back up the data but it didn't function. As last option I reset the laptop and reinstalled the windows. Now the laptop is fully functioning but I could not find my data. Would it help if I turn on the file history like in this video?
