Driving home with our 8 month old adopted GSD, my parents' gift for my 12th birthday, she sat as far away from me on the back bench seat of our car as she could, pressed against the door. Over 30 minutes she slowly inched towards me on the seat, until she rested her head on my lap and went to sleep. For the next 11 years she was always at my side.

I have 2. GSDs are soooo smart and easy to train. They are velcro dogs for sure, but would not change that at all. Yes, all is true and are very much attached to me.

My wife and I have only had this breed for over 32 years. They are the best ever.

I grew up with a German Shepherd. And most of the time, especially after my mom died, it felt like my doggo was trying to act like my mom. Even trying to make sure i got up and ready for school. German Shepherds are the one thing we as a species did right.

My son gave his 5 yr old gsd "Titan" to his aunt Carol (my older sister) because he got too busy with school and work. Carol takes care of an autistic young man named Corey.
The moment Corey walks in, that dog is ON DUTY. Its amazing to watch this dog communicate with and love that boy who can hardly speak.
The patience, loyalty and concern is unmatched.
I have had two GSDs myself. There is no better breed.

All so true, I have had 6 GSDs over 25 years; 2 at a time. I started when I had a 20 acre ranch; ended up with 2 so they would have company when I worked. Mine are all from German show lines, very healthy, smart, loving and dedicated. I love my Heidi and Charlie so much, especially since my husband died and I am alone. They are my family. They are very friendly to new friends and helpers. But they know when they meet a potential burglars. They can smell something I cannot detect. They have been correct every time. But they need a parent, a handler, to treat them well.

Four German Shepherd dogs over the years, all totally different personalities, we still talk of their impact on us. Three were totally ruled by tigger ( the cat, who left home every time we got a new pup). I do sometimes think they were better friends then humans. True love. True love.simple as that.

We just took a sweet White German Shepherd in that needed a new home.

She’s seriously the best sweetest dog I’ve ever had. She’ll just flop her head on my chest and just stare at me.

I agree with everything you mentioned. I had my German Sheppard since he was 8 weeks old. He follows me everywhere around the house. Including the bathroom. I made the mistake of letting him sleep in my bed next to me when he was still a small puppy😂. Unfortunately, male "Old German Sheppards" get really big once they get older, so I had to buy a king-size bed. Now he has also his own place in my bedroom, but he prefers to sleep next to me. I do not mind, actually. More washing and more cleaning. He's very sweet and very socially towards other people, children, dogs... I raised him well. When we go hiking into the forrest, he never loses eyecontact. I do not have to use a leash. Where I go, he goes. Amazing bound and unbelievable loyal. I usually work from home in my study room, and from time to time, I have to leave him alone. When I return, he's overjoyed, starting to lick me. He loves hugging. Yep, he definitely sees me as his parent. He loves people in general, but I have no doubt that he would defend me if a stranger attacked me. Nobody in his right mind would do that anyway. Sometimes I go to the city with him (he knows this since he was a puppy, including traffic, public transport...) He's really tall and very black for a German Sheppard. The funniest part, although he loves people, is that most people cross the street when he's with me. In the metro, I always have enough place when he's with me. People who do know him are not afraid and come over to cuttle him, which he enjoys very much. SOCIALISATION is so important.

I only had a shepherd mix and all of these are true. I was leaving our beach house. I put her on the front porch until I was packed up. She went down the front stairs and back up the back stairs to watch through the door. My brother, she’s not letting you leave without her. And she slept curled up behind my legs in a twin bed. She actually growled when my niece came in the room. She was very attached to me and very protective. Of course I corrected the growl. She was just unsure. I miss her so much. Thank you for the video.

Just got a working line German shepherd a little over a year ago. Love how she always lays next to the bed when I sleep. Always lays under my desk when I work. One of the best connections I have ever had between me and a dog.

Watched a vid a while back saying how dogs hate it when you hug them. Supposedly makes them feel trapped. My GSD absolutely loved them. He'd lean into them and didnt care how long you'd hold him.
