Lesson Intro: 00:00 – 00:36
Part 1: Why Use HFR: 00:37 – 2:17
Part 2 :Using HFR on Youtube (this may be an incorrect card): 02:18 – 03:52
Part 3 : Using HFR on Youtube: 03:53 – 04:27
Outro: 04:28 – 04:53

I desire excruciating detail in my videos. Never clearly understood frame rate until now, so thanks for breaking it down for us.

Technical reason why 24fps is...was the standard in Hollywood. It's the SLOWEST frame rate possible for the human brain to PERCEIVE smooth motion.

Why "SLOWEST FPS possible"? If we double 24fps to 48fps, it will mean: Double the number of movie reels needed to show 90min movie in a theaters. This is also true for SHOOTING a movie. You'll \ DOUBLE the amount of stock you use on set.

Consider: Super 16mm film stock @ 24fps, 400' reel = 10min (actually, it's +11min). @48fps, 400' = 5min.

BTW, the last time I checked, $100 get you a SINGLE 400' roll of 16mm film. That's 100.00 for 8-9min of shooting time.

("What happen to the 10-11min on a 400' you mentioned?" Your movie camera has an electric motor...which MUST spin UP TO SPEED ((from 0fps, to 1fps, 2fps....24fps)) before calling ACTION. That SPIN UP will eat up feet of film.

How much do we pay for 16gb SD cards today? 6.99 @ MicroCenter for Emtec brand. How many min of footage do we get from it? Samsung 64gb SD cards can be had for well under 30.00. How many min is 64gb?)

So, it's economy penalty (cost of film stock, cost of processing), the bulk penalty (lifting, trucking, storing, weight of film magazine attached to cameras), Time Cost penalty (as editors sit through 2x the amount of REAL TIME watch/cut/tape. Time to process 2x the film stock.).

One more thing: HFR mean faster shutter speed...meaning you pay a "light penalty". You're penalize by needing MORE light or/and faster lens. Shutter speed for 24fps is 1/50 (relatively average shutter speed for me, as a photography). Doubling FPS can cut the shutter speed to 1/100...not enough time (duration) for photo to strike the film/sensor. "we need a bigger (Jaws)

Please mention PAL/NTSC and 25/30, 50/60 fps difference

Muito bom, gostei do conteúdo, eu ainda não tinha esse conhecimento sobre frames

Nice vid, thanks. I wish you much success on your new channel. I also have a question regarding rendering original footage:

Is it possible, or what happens to the quality if I were to shoot in 24fps (cinema mode on my HD cam) but after editing render a file (MP4, MPEG, etc...) at 30 or 60fps? Would I be better off just rendering in 24fps?

why didnt they mention shutter speed you can have 24 fps with cripsy clear motion blur free frames but it will look choppy.

Higher frame rates do require more light and/or faster lenses. More factors to consider.

Great video on frame rate. Well said and explained.

My right ear really loved that; might want to look into balancing left and right audio.

I liked when you mentioned, "It doesn't mean that's the way movies always have to be."

0:45 BLURRINESS has absolutely nothing to do with frame rate. SHUTTER SPEED determines the blurring of movement in a frame. FPS affects the "CHOPPINESS" of movement. Smooth vs choppy movement.

can you please advise how to play in a low frame rate, my streaming videos are way too large?

The motion blur topic should either be attributed to shutter speed or left out entirely. Could be very confusing to someone learning about video.

Either the cameraman is lying or the editor rendered this video at 24p/30. This video is not 60p in the quality settings. *facepalm*
