is it Dangerous to use Autodesk's software illegally?

Autodesk estimates that 6 million of its users are illegal and hopes to convert many of them to paying customers.
Well, the answer to this question actually depends on whether it is a single user or whether it is a studio or company using illegal software.

Don't want people to pirate your software? Then bring back perpetual licenses. I will never pay for subscription based software.

They talk about the billions in 'loss' due to the pirated copies of the software. That is working under the assumption that every person who has pirated it would pay for it if pirating it was impossible. But i think that the vast majority of people who pirate it still wouldnt buy it if pirating it was impossible. They would go for an alternative. Therefor their statements about billions in losses are wildly overstated.

Subscriptions encourage piracy, get used to it Autodesk.

By putting prices that high for everybody, they are the ones who is stealing money! That's why I prefer Blender: it is honest company.

Autodesk should adapt their prices for different countries. Lover the prices for individual user. It's super hard to pay tons of money for subscription, for those who just getting started or are not earning much, lives in countries with low economy. But Autodesk don't give a shit.
It would be good for everyone with a better price solution.

Anyone who thinks that autodesk is impacted financially by illegal users should look at how many industries autodesk develops for, civil engineering, military aplications and so on, i have no sympathy for such a predatory company.

And this is one reason why I saved up my money and switched to cinema 4d, I refuse to pay for subscriptions and I refuse to download pirated software, I would have bought a perpetual license of 3ds max if ever it was still available
I respect autodesk for what they’ve done to the industry but at the same time, I’ve seen them do some shady stuff that pissed me off many times

I wanted to learn to make my own plugins and sell them years ago but saw I had to own a license for Maya to sell the plugins so I just switched to Blender Instead.

Autodesk doesn't give a sh!t because 90% of their income is from engineering softwares.

I used pirated copy of. Maya for 6 years. Never made anything / published my content. Just used for my personal hobby. After 2.8, I switched to Blender.

I primarily use ZBrush but Blender has replaced anything I needed in Maya or Max. With UE4 and Quixel taking up a bunch of slack too.

My theory is that autodesk lets people pirate their software to steal market share from other companies.

How big is the 3d communitty. Because 6 million seems fairly small?. Do a video on how big is the 3d field..

Who cares? I use Blender. It is all in one solution for 3d. In near future, big companies will be attracted to it. Only one thing is bothering me it's memory handling which makes it numb in very high poly mesh. Wish developer will soon get to it.

even they make autodesk free i wont use it, because all my work can be done in Blender

If they didn't want people to use them illegally, they would've secured the software heavily like Steinberg's Cubase Pro. So if the cracked versions are coming out easily that means they want it to happen.

I think if u use for personal use at home it's okay but if ur using it for commercial use for creating models u need to pay for the software. Btw I am a student and use the student version

I think the monthly subscription (Which I'm against) became a problem that many people would rather pirate it than to pay it every month. Especially how pricey Maya is. However, the individual license was a good call but I think it's no coincidence that it came around the time Blender 2.8 became so popular. (Especially how people recalled many times of wanting to have individual license for years before Blender 2.8 released)

Autodesk doesn't realise that their practices are the reason why people pirate their software and they deserve it in my honest opinion, Keeping a really expensive subscription service, Making it harder for the average person to just acquire their software, Ruining Maya for every year since the release of Maya 2016 by adding unneeded features and making tools unstable and broken compared to previous versions(and also the terrible ui which get's shuffled each release making it harder to get used to and the increased instances of crashing), limiting to only the recent releases instead of letting people use previous and unsupported versions (which people need for a variety of reasons like preferences and plugins that only work with previous versions of their software) and so much more. It's laughable how greedy Autodesk is honestly.
