The "System Snapshot" utility is now Timeshift by default, which actually backs up ALL your folders and files if you wish. I've used it recently when i've replaced my HDD with an SSD. Nothing has been lost and all my files, settings, EVERYTHING was like i've neverd had a drive change.

You reviewed Ubuntu Cinnamon and moaned that it didn't have linux mint exclusive tools. Ubuntu Cinnamon is Ubuntu, not mint!

This might sound crazy but how about Peppermint OS vs Mint Xfce?

I've been a long time Mint user. Recently I have had a lot of troubles with my new hardware even after updating the kernel manually.
So I installed Manjaro and man, Manjaro is just pure simplicity and everything "just werks!" out of the box. Everything is up to date and almost bleeding edge (I say almost because they tend to install only the latest stable versions of software, which is great in my opinion).

Manjaro is now my go to version of Linux and I can now say that I use Arch by the way so there's a plus!

11:40 Maybe they are using the "Applications should retain their brand on icon sets" mindset? A few well-known distributions have that mindset with their icon sets, such as Pop!_OS recently.

I got excited about Ubuntu Cinnamon for five minutes when I heard about it but quickly came to my senses and realized there are many better options out there in the Linux space.

love everyone's comments..very entertaining and informative...I believe that there are advantages in each DE and I would have liked to see resource and speed tests...maybe one is better than the other...just need to find the niche user that could benefit !

I may take a look at mint as a main desktop again. Been using Manjaro for a while but with the ease of changing the kernel if needed should help with the bit of gaming issues I had in mint before.

I don't have any problem installing from snap onto Linux Mint 19.3, I have installed a lot of apps from the snap store.

If there is one area where Linux Mint needs SIGNIFICANT improvement it is in UI scaling. There should be an option (one per display) to set manual scaling as a percentage (eg 120% for a 14" FHD display) that sets the size for ALL UI elements, which covers GTK and QT based apps. Currently in Linux Mint only text can be manually scaled (via System Settings -> Font Selection -> Text scaling factor) on the primary display which is very limiting.

You may not take it this way and I normally wouldn't make a comment like this but I genuinely intend for this to be constructive criticism. In my opinion and I suspect if you give it an unbiased rewatch you'll see what I'm saying, your approaching this video wrong. Your entire approach to looking at Ubuntu cinnamon felt like you were looking for it to be just like mint. It isn't and that actually is the entire point of creating it, if they just made a copy of mint and called it Ubuntu then it would be pointless. I'm not going to get into what is valid or not because I don't care but the point is there are people who still have issues with some of Linux mint's philosophy, and even if they don't there are just some people who want Cinnamon and want to run main Ubuntu and either can't or don't want to install it on their own, for a first effort this is solid and I suspect it will improve and fit that audience perfectly.

I believe you saw two versions of GIMP because one of them is the .deb package in the repo while the other is the snap. It's a guess on my part but I think this is the case. Buyer beware!
